It does make the floor softer, so it gets 1 star. But it is very slippery. I am a yoga beginner, and it's very frustrating not to be able to learn poses correctly because my hands keep slipping. In Downward Dog I really feel I'm about to slip and fall just as I'm really getting my spine extended. Also, mine's only a week old or so, but still has an awful rubbery/plastic-y smell. With my hands slipping as they do, this is not even functional for me; at 1/3 of the price I'd still be looking for a replacement.

I bought this yoga mat a while back and at first I didn't mind the slippy/stretchy material, but as I've come to find that I've done more harm to my body by using this mat. It doesn't provide the proper stretch that you would need in order to balance yourself. So I threw this one out BUT I found that the Harbinger 340303 Durafoam Exercises mat is so much thicker so you won't be slipping and slidding all over the place, hope this was helpful to someone in need, good luck!

This mat has been extremely slippery. I cannot even do a down dog pose more than once per session on it. It seems to compress the creases meant to give you grip and absorb any sort of moisture within the first few minutes of working out. It also tends to bunch up and it curls at the ends instead of laying flat. I hope it will work better once it's broken in more, but for now it's just being troublesome.
