The songs are absolutely wonderful on this C.D. I have almost all of Kate's work, and in my opinion, this is the best. Lovely lyrics. Kate is a great story teller through her songs. I highly recommend this one.

I have been a Kate Campbell fan since she came on the scene. All I had to hear was Guy Clark saying that she was the "real deal". I have been a fan for over ten years, which has developed into a friendship as well. This coming April, Kate will sing in my living room for about 35 people as part of our house concert series.
"Save The Day" has more religious overtones within the lyrics than I am comfortable with, although I begrudge no one about it, especially Kate. She writes about what she knows, including her Southern Baptist upbringing, and she is absolutely true to her craft. I realize that a song like "Crazy In Alabama" can't be written every day by an artist, but there is a universal thread running through that and a number of her songs that I didn't pick up here. It's a good album, and maybe it'll grow on me with repeated listenings, but I'm much more likely to put on her "Blues And Lamentations" disc of several years ago when I want to hear her than this one. If you're new to Kate's music, I wouldn't recommend you start here, but with some other earlier releases, especially the two albums where she re-recorded some of her older work. If you're already a part of her fan club and are familiar with her work, I think you'll enjoy this disc, but maybe not as much as some other things.

I am a follower of Kate Campbell's music from way back and I have
never been disappointed. This album continues with really great music. She has a unique style and sound and her lyrics are wonderful. If you have not heard her music, I'd say you've been missing something. Her lyrics encompass many emotions.........they're moving, sentimental, stirring and so much fun. She really captures and delivers her themes very well.

This is the fifth CD of Kate's that I have, and the one I'm enjoying the most. None of Kate's albums compare to attending her concerts; her stories about the songs are so funny and warm. However, even though my son hasn't seen her live, I ordered one of these for him, knowing he'll love it. There are two songs I don't much care for as much, but the ones that I love more than make up for it. "Save the Day", "Back to the Moon", and "Fordlandia" are great ones. The first is a fine expression of one of Kate's philosophies, and the other two are both whimsical and thought-provoking. She always has a message lurking under the stories.
