Book Description

April 20, 1999
This book is designed to meet the needs of the average person with back trouble. Each Chapter has been written to answer the questions many people want answered.

Beginning in Chapter One, You Are Not Alone!, the reader is helped from feeling isolated. After A Short Lesson in Spinal Anatomy (Chapter Two), the reader is taken on a visit with a specialist. The book provides a wealth of information about diagnostic testing, common spinal disorders, pain management, physical and alternative therapies, and surgery.

Throughout the book medical terms are not only defined but also, phonetically spelled. The last chapter is a Glossary of Terms compiled for quick and easy reference. In addition, the book utilizes over twenty-five visual illustrations designed to benefit the average person.

Save Your Aching Back, A Patient's Guide is not meant to replace the relationship between a patient and his or her doctor. On the contrary, general information about the design of the spine and its mechanics can help a person to understand why his or her back aches.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you! Finally a back book for non-medical people!, May 21, 1999

This review is from: Save Your Aching Back, A Patient's Guide (Paperback)
Recently, I was diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis. I felt as though my doctor was speaking Greek to me when he tried to explain my condition. It was then I decided to educate myself on this abnormality and the general 'make up' of the back.

I purchased a copy of Save Your Aching Back, A Patient's Guide written by Dr. Eidelson. Finally I found a book written especially for people without a medical background. It helped me (and my wife) to understand the complexity and illnesses that typically affect the back.

I highly recommend that anyone interested in gaining knowledge of this part of the anatomy to take time to read this book. Who knows, doing so may help avoid future back ailments. I am certain that I could have avoided my situation if I had the knowledge gained by reading this book earlier in my life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a book with direct answers to my questions!, August 11, 2000

My husband has suffered from low back pain for a number of months. At first, he was reluctant to see a doctor because he thought he might need back surgery. After reading Save Your Aching Back, we learned surgery is seldom needed. What a relief! Also, the book helped us both to understand what was going on during the office visit. Since starting physical therapy, he is feeling much better and is able to play golf again. Thank you.

2.0 out of 5 stars Content educational but in dire need of an editor, August 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Save Your Aching Back, A Patient's Guide (Paperback)
The information in the book was very helpful and useful, but the font looked like it was picked by a preschooler. And who writes continued on the bottom so readers know to go on to the next page. I must admit that I finished with a somewhat better understanding of the spine. Next time, however, Dr. Eidelson should hit spell check.
