5.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised
Wonderful addition to my kitchen. Every recipe used so far tastes better with this method of marination. The luxury of marinating for 45 minutes to achieve an "overnight or 24 hour marinade" effect is so helpful in my busy, not always carefully planned out life!!!! I love kitchen toys that enable my free spirit's spontaneity.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great marinating, but lid needs imrprovement to snap on as well
I've had this product for several years and like it very much. It has a heavier than usual thickness compared to other FoodSaver containers. It stands up better. It is easy to use. The size is great. I often use it for left overs. It does marinate, and it's a great container, too. It's flaws are that it can't be used in the microwave and you really can't take it and go,...

I've had this product for several years and like it very much. It has a heavier than usual thickness compared to other FoodSaver containers. It stands up better. It is easy to use. The size is great. I often use it for left overs. It does marinate, and it's a great container, too. It's flaws are that it can't be used in the microwave and you really can't take it and go, to a party for instance. The lid doesn't lock without the vacuum sealing, so once it's opened it isn't good from transporting if you're away from home. I would like to be able to take it from the refrigerator to the microwave to heat up leftovers or to a party with snacks or...... Maybe the next generation?????

Well-made. Great size for a big honkin' porterhouse steak or chuck roast etc. Also works well for multiple kabob items as pictured.

My husband bought this on his Amazon account, so this probably won't show that it's an Amazon verified purchase. :) Oh well. We did buy it and have used it twice, and the food has come out wonderfully both times. Once was with chicken breasts, and the other time was with a roast that we had to cut in half to get it to fit. Both were tender and flavorful, just as you would hope marinated meat would be.

Because of all the bad reviews of the other Foodsaver containers (apparently they like to crack after a while) I've decided to hand wash this. I hate handwashing, but since nothing is actually getting cooked in it, it's easy to clean.

We have an older model of Foodsaver that still works with this. This is a good value. I like it a lot.

Great shape for the freezer or fridge. Our food has kept so well that there is little wastage. Good for marinator or just as a food saver canister. The whole concept is such a 'friendly' product to the Earth - recycleable and reduces food waste. I wish everyone would get at least one of the food saver products.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good shape and size, July 10, 2007
This canister works well for it's purpose- marinating foods by sucking out the air. It doesn't work so well when the vacuum tube is missing from the Foodsaver, so make sure everyone in the household knows where to put the tub! (here's a hint- it doesn't go with the fish supplies or on the garage workbench!)

It's a nice heavy plastic, washes well, and stores reasonably well. I have no idea how to make it store better, but it would be kind of nice if the lid sat neatly upside down on top of the box, without it flopping over and out a lot. But, I have very messy cupboards (re., the fact that some short people in the house store the tube in funny places should give a clue as to why...) so maybe those of you who don't have messy cupboards won't have this tipping problem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kiss the quiche good-bye!, December 4, 2011

I bought this marinator not to marinate but to keep salad, or other "greens" in it to make them last longer. Since I am single many vegetables were spoiling on me just lying in the refrigerator crisper, even in ziplocs. And using the FoodSaver bags are a bit of a hassle. I bought the Tila and it does the trick. No offence to quiche lovers! I had it once in the early 80's and actully liked it. Let's see was it Quiche Lorraine, or Lorraine that served me quiche?

This is one of the greatest products I have ever ever purchased. The lid fits nice and tight. It has a huge area for putting almost anything in. I don't know how I ever did with out it all these years. There is absolutely nothing on the market as good as this product. I tell you now, it is the best thing ever.

3.0 out of 5 stars NOT Self-Vacuuming, December 27, 2009

I am an idiot and didn't read the fine print. I thought that this container had a mechanism in it to create the vacuum, like some sort of pump. Apparently it has to be used with a FoodSaver vacuum machine though. Too bad my gift recipient didn't realize that before the package was thrown away. Now we are stuck with an overpriced container. Again, my fault, just hoping to warn others.
