Book Description

You are cordially invited to the dinner party in celebration of the forty-fourth birthday of Findlay Finch and to discover the answer to the all-important question: Who is out to kill Findlay and will his love child succeed in saving him?

Please, take a seat in the Finch House mahogany paneled dining room and join your fellow diners:

FINDLAY FINCH: bon vivant, amateur sleuth, cross-word puzzle creator, and living proof that it's never too late to have a happy childhood. His creed: Sober or blotto, this is my motto, I keep muddling through.

KITTY FINCH: Findlay’s mother, chatelaine of Finch House, secret gambler and the creator of the Velvet Hammer cocktail—a deceptively tasty concoction of lethal strength.

DAPHNE MACDUFF: Findlay’s newly discovered love child, Scottish witch, marijuana grower, employee of the Riverford Detoxification Unit, and street brawler extraordinaire. No one on this earth provokes Daphne MacDuff with impunity.

JACKIE AND GARY PITTMAN: newest come-from-a ways to buy a sea-side mansion in Sanctuary. Not at all who they seem to be.

When the murder victims begin to pile up in Sanctuary, Nova Scotia, it’s up to Findlay Finch and Co. to find the evil doer. They devise a fiendishly cunning plan to trick the murderer into revealing his or her identity, which ultimately culminates in a final deadly showdown. One thing is certain: not everyone is leaving Finch House alive.

Reading "Saving Findlay Finch" was a great way to spend a winter weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed the combination of quirky characters and detailed narrative. Mystery definitely suits D H Toole's writing style. I don't hesitate to recommend "Saving Findlay Finch".

I had so much fun reading this novel. You only have to read the prologue to be hooked. The characters are beautifully described by Toole and the plot is hilarious. Like me, you will smile from beginning to end. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Outrageously funny! December 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Saving Findlay Finch is the second novel written by D H Toole. Having thoroughly enjoyed Moonlit Days and Nights, a delightful romp through Victorian Toronto, I was eager to read Saving Findlay Finch. It does not disappoint! If you can imagine 40-year old Findlay's mother Kitty "marinated in Chanel" and partial to Velvet Hammers (apricot brandy, dry vermouth, orange bitters, and, of course, a great deal of gin), this is just the beginning of a parade of wonderful characters described brilliantly by Toole. The murder that occurs in the Prologue ("One down, two to go. Easy-peasy!") sets the stage for this quick-paced plot in the village of Sanctuary, Nova Scotia. Sit back and let yourself be entertained by this immensely funny novel!

I read Moonlit Days and Nights D.H. Toole's first book and thought it was great so I looked for other books by this author hoping they would be as good or dare I say even better.
I wasn't disappointed. Saving Finlay Finch is another excellent read. Quite hilarious and kept me interested from the beginning to end.
The locations of the novels, Toronto and Nova Scotia, and descriptions of his characters are intriguing and very funny.I'm now waiting for his next book. I'm wondering where the next location will be and ...
