**************************

Grace Burke doesn’t need a thing.

She enjoys her quiet life in Fall Rivers, Colorado—running a bookstore and coffee shop with her cousin, Kate. The two have a successful business, a small circle of friends, and each other. What more could she want?

When the Anderson brothers move into the house across the street, it doesn’t take long for her to realize exactly what she’s been missing. At first sight, the youngest brother, Michael, captures Grace’s heart, and her quiet life is disrupted.

Then it turns upside down.

Grace isn’t the only one with eyes for Michael. Nina Sandler, one of Michael’s clients, threatens to come between them. When Nina can’t get Michael’s attention, she focuses on Grace—in a very dangerous way.

But love is never easy and if the best things in life are worth fighting for, then Grace must find the courage to fight. Not just for love and happiness but for her very life.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not all stories need sex... July 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
You know those books you read where you really want to give them fours stars, but it just wouldn't be fair to your other four star books. Well color me in a predicament because that's exactly how I'm feeling right now! Saving Grace was a book I'm glad I read. It's so close to getting that extra star that I can feel it copping a feel. That fourth star is like an "excited" puppy that I feel really bad shaking off my leg.

Let me start by saying this is a "clean new adult romance". Yes, I do read clean romances and most importantly I thoroughly enjoy them. Not all stories need sex. WAIT! Control-print-screen because yes I just said that! It is possible to have intimacy, passion and romance without sex. Not all authors can pull it off, but J.M. Hill did a fine job. However, I would have liked for her to address why Grace and Michael were waiting. Was it their values, upbringing, religion? I think it's a beautiful thing when two people wait, but I would have liked to know why.

One thing I loved about this book was the time and development the author took with the relationship. No insta-love here people. The "relationship foreplay" was amazingly done. However, the first half of the book did drag. I know, I know! I'm about to be frisked by the contradiction police. I loved the length of the relationship development, but the plot didn't develop in the same way. I needed more to be happening. If the author would have paced the first half like she did the second half, then this book would have been four stars easy! Garrett is who saved those first several chapters for me. His and Grace's friendship turned me into a giggling pile of goo. You're happy with them just being friends, but damn I wish she would have written in a girl for him. I want a Garrett!!

5.0 out of 5 stars There's no such thing... December 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
"There's no such thing as old-fashioned values. There are just values. Right has always been right and wrong has always been wrong...People have just lost sight of what's truly important."

I think this quote sums up the book in its entirety and is the reason as to why I loved the book SO much. Excellent writing with an excellent story and a closeness between characters that made them lovable almost instantaneously...

Grace Elizabeth Burke is a twenty-four year old bookstore/cafe shop owner with her cousin and best friend Kate. They're happy with the quiet life they lead in their small town. They are both talented, funny, love to cook, and love watching sports. Their daily routines may seem mundane to most, but the quietness and ease of the life they lead makes them happy...Until the Anderson brothers move in...

Three, count them THREE hot guys who move in across the street. And they happen to be brothers. It wasn't just their looks that got to me either. I mean of course they were hot, but they were also genuinely good hearted guys who had a great sense of closeness, humor, and an impressive understanding of the meaning of family. Kate being the more bold of the two decides that they should introduce themselves and upon meeting the brothers, the rest practically becomes history. The ease at which they rooted themselves into the story and into Grace and Kate's lives made you feel like they had always been around.

Garret, Miles and Michael Anderson became permanent fixtures; always eating their food, coming over to watch sports or just hanging out for the sake of hanging out. You get the pleasure of joining these characters on a road to happiness, and at sometimes what true happiness can cost.

4.0 out of 5 stars Outside my usual purview. June 12, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
First, let me say that I genuinely enjoy reading sexy scenes. Not just because they're sexy or because it's porn for women (it's most definitely not, but that's a discussion for another day) but because it's all of the intense emotions bubbling at the same time. Usually, it signifies as a catalyst for change in the relationship between the main characters. Sex can be a great medium for revealing aspects about the hero or heroine that they wouldn't reveal anywhere other than the bedroom.

When I think sweet romance, my initial reaction is to roll my eyes and think of Sunday school.

Let me just take this moment and apologize for judging an entire sub-genre thus. While not perfect and a little slow in terms of pacing, I found SAVING GRACE to be a fairly decent debut that definitely falls outside my normal reading preferences.

This book is all heart. Grace and Kate are best friends and cousins who have been put through the ringer and still came out on top with amazing, gracious attitudes. You don't dislike them for their good fortune or successful business because the author so effortlessly conveys how much they've had to go through to get to where they are. They have each other- neither of them needs a man to feel complete.

That being said, the girls aren't blind. When a trio of heartstoppingly gorgeous brothers move in across the way, they can't help but introduce themselves- thus beginning the slow burn between Grace and the youngest brother, Michael.

The five relatively young adults (the oldest of the brothers is 26) form their very own little family of sorts, settling into a rhythm made up of the girls doing a lot of cooking, everyone pitching in to do chores, and talking football- a sphere in which Grace really holds her own (!!).
