5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive & Simple to Understand, January 10, 2006
By
F.C. (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Saving and Investing: Financial Knowledge and Financial Literacy that Everyone Needs and Deserves to Have! (Paperback)

This book does a great job of addressing a broad range of investments ideas and opportunities. This book is for anyone that wants to understand how saving, investing and financial markets really work - it is not a "quick buck" or "daytrader" overnight book with lots of unlikely promises of sudden riches - the author takes a more fundamental approach to investing (he worked for Wall Street firm, Goldman Saks). The book looks at both stock and bonds, what they are, showing how to approach investing in both these vehicles as well as providing a background of how the capital markets operate. Takes the mystery out of a lot of terms (leverage, compounding, diversification, etc) by walking one through examples of what they mean and how they are used.

5.0 out of 5 stars How the Money World Really Works, March 11, 2006
This review is from: Saving and Investing: Financial Knowledge and Financial Literacy that Everyone Needs and Deserves to Have! (Paperback)
This is a book that approaches money from a different standpoint than so many of the "get rich quick" books available today. If it were that easy, everyone would be a millionaire. Michael Fischer doesn't fall into that trap with "Saving and Investing" but insteads sets out to demystify money and the financial markets by presenting the reader with the big picture. It really got me thinking about saving and how it is such an important topic - that many avoid thinking about through either dread, ignorance or simply a lack of time. The author's ability to present financial concepts in a clear manner, sticking to what we need to know, makes this a particularly good work on the subject.

The book answers many questions on a host of investment types, thereby allowing readers choose what is best for them. It is essential reading for anyone who wants to understand how the money world really works.
