5.0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful and Inspiring Story, January 22, 2007

I think I held my breath the entire time I was reading this book. I couldn't put it down. It is beautifully written with glimpes into the daily life of China. To me, this book is less about one religion than the multi-faith compassion of many people that connected with Lisa Misraje-Bentley and Levi during this journey. You will find this woman an inspiration and a heroine. The next time you think of reasons why something can't be done...think about the obstacles she tackled without focusing on the possibility of failure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Reading This True Account Written So Honestly, February 8, 2008
This review is from: Saving Levi: Left to Die . . . Destined to Live (Focus on the Family) (Paperback)
I loved reading this book, in fact my husband and i read it together and we both were struck by the simple powerful honesty of lisa's writing. How amazing to watch with her as a hundred different people give love not just to one special little man; but then also pass that love on to those of us who are inspired to do the same just by reading their wonderful story. I would sit beside her and listen to her tell the tale again and again and hope it never leaves me the same!

A very fast read, which is good because it's hard to put this book down. This is a really inspirational book.

It had a bit of extra meaning for me as I knew some of the people referenced in the book due to my travels in China and I had the pleasure of meeting the author. I bought five copies for friends.

This was an amazing true story about an American Family who traveled to China to work in a Christian orphanage and ended up saving the life of a critically burned infant left to die. With their faith and determination they saved his life and later adopted him. Many people came together to make this all possible. This story was so amazing it was hard to believe that it was actually a true story! I highly recommend reading this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Heartwarming Story, July 12, 2008
This review is from: Saving Levi: Left to Die . . . Destined to Live (Focus on the Family) (Paperback)
This is a wonderful heartwarming story about a strong little boy and a determined group of people who would not give up on him. Once you start reading the book I found it hard to put down. It was a very easy book to read. I really enjoyed looking at the pictures as it added so much to the story. I also enjoyed reading about the cultural differences that they encountered in their every day lives while living in China. Having adopted a child from China myself I know what a difficult and lenghtly process it can be at times but in the end it is so rewarding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and Touching!, February 8, 2011
This review is from: Saving Levi: Left to Die . . . Destined to Live (Focus on the Family) (Paperback)
Imagine finding a newborn baby with third and fourth degree burns to over 70 percent of its body left laying in a field to die? That is exactly what the villagers of a poor farming community just outside Langfang city in China found. With approximately 40 villagers seeking the sound of the horrendous shrieking cries scouring the field for the source, only one kind-hearted gentleman was willing to pick up the baby thus beginning the `Saving [of] Levi'.

Only when this one lone man found it in his heart to pick up Levi did he really begin a chain of events that would not only save the child's life, but spark an amazing chain of events that would bring people from various countries and faiths together in a successful battle against time to save Levi's life.

This is a compelling and true story, a story of immense love, kindness, caring, faith and God and the power He has to invoke healing where He sees fit. My hat goes off to the many, many people spoken about in this book who aided in Levi's journey, but more so to the Bentley family for their daring, their deep faith and their unconditional love for an abandoned child who needed someone to care!!

This story will touch your heart at its deepest level and will remind you that with faith and a sold belief in your God, that all things are possible. Good luck little Levi!!
