Book Description

If you’re a fan of supernatural fiction then you will be captivated by this true story about a spiritually sensitive girl and the path that led to her possession. Part one of a two-part series, Saving Mary is the story of a modern-day Mary Magdalene—the woman from whom Jesus cast out seven demons.

Deidre Daily is drawn to anything seemingly spiritual, desperately seeking a spiritual existence. But inside this vibrant girl hides a terrified child who sincerely believes she has married the devil. Through a series of spiritual encounters her fear turns into reality, and she ends up possessed.

Deidre’s fascinating memoir relays her story from childhood to adolescence: invisible eyes leering at her from the corner of her bedroom, horrible nightmares tormenting her, and her desperate attempt to find God—only to end up possessed. It is a candid account of possession from a first-person perspective. This dark memoir brings to light an intricate world of deceitful spirits hell-bent on manipulating and damaging an innocent girl’s life, not only through her dreams, but also through seemingly every-day encounters.

Travel with Deidre into the mysterious world of spirits, ghosts and demons. Awaken yourself to a world that isn’t supposed to exist; a world that’s as intriguing as it is sinister. And then emerge as a new person—invigorated, aware and intent on living in the light. Saving Mary; Not just another story about a girl and her exorcist.

Watch for book two, Saving Mary: The Deliverance

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Read April 14, 2012
By Becky J
Format:Kindle Edition
Fascinating to say the least! This memoir couldn't be any more different from my own childhood, but Deidre's talented way with words brings me and all my emotions right there with her - into her childhood. I became so attached I couldn't put it down. Definitely a must read!! I'm eagerly anticipating book 2, as I can't wait to join her again as she grows - searching for freedom and truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping memoir is worth the read April 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
You might not believe that demons roam the earth looking for souls to devour, because most people are oblivious to them. But author Deidre Havrelock is sure demons exist; she's had first hand experience. In this chilling memoir, Havrelock slits open her past and bleeds the chilling story of her childhood spiritual quest. In Saving Mary, you'll read how such simple, seemingly innocent life experiences such as curiosity, confusion, and false consolation, can let evil in. You'll read how forging ahead without spiritual guidance, she allowed her soul to be hijacked. Saving Mary The Possession (Book One) is a gripping spiritual experience that will melt the curtain separating physical and spiritual. You won't be able to put it down.

Grab a coffee and a comfortable chair because once you start to read this memoire, you won't be able to put it down. I became more and more drawn into Deidre's heartwrenching childhood with every word that I read. I can't wait for part two to come out because I have to know what comes next for her.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful and Well Written April 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Growing up is difficult in the best circumstances. It is even more difficult when your home life is a mess, you are a "half breed" and at times you consider yourself "a bag of dirty laundry." At one point Deidre describes her circumstances as, "Is life going on without me or what?"

I have not walked this walk, but the emotions and feelings ... searching, not fitting in, fear, and lonliness are ones we can all relate to. Don't miss this page-turning account of Deidre's childhood searching for God and love. I can't wait to read more of the story in the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow May 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm a big fan of the "Haunted" series on Discovery channel and this book was like watching a longer version of it. If you believe in God, then you must believe in the Devil, this is in essence what the book shows you.

The conflict of religion, spirituality and the fight against evil comes off as scary and at times unbelievable. How can one person go through so much and live to tell the story? The fact that this is a memoir, a true story will leave a haunting presence with you after you read it.

Stepping away from the supernatural feel, this book also portrays human strength and is a testament that the human mind can do anything it sets its mind too. This book was a page turner and I am honoured to have been able to share Deidre's experience with her.

The writer makes an extremely good attempt at telling you her story, sharing the details with you, pulling you into the story and leaving a lasting impression. I, for one, can't wait for Book 2.

Overall assessment:
Story: 5/5
Characters: 5/5
Editing: 4.5/5
Formatting: 4.5/5
Pacing: 4/5
Offensive content?: Yes not recommended for anyone with a weak heart and children below 15.(PG15)

SHARON'S REVIEW

This novel would be spellbinding even if it was a Science Fiction novel, but it's not fiction. It's a true account of author Deirdre (Daily) Havrelock's life, which makes it truly amazing. She saw ghosts, was followed by invisible entities, and felt things psychically that most people couldn't even fathom, let alone deal with. I'm sure that there's a lot more than she's willing or able to tell us, but as it is, the way she was treated growing up was horrific. No wonder she often prayed that she could just be normal, and be like every other kid she knew.

The thing is, she didn't feel like every other kid. She felt like a bag of dirty laundry in comparison to the others. She felt inferior because she was a child of mixed nationalities. Her Father is Irish, and her mother is Cree Indian. She was further traumatized by an alcoholic father who drank away whatever money came into the house. She and her brother sometimes went without lunch at school. He was a loving parent, but often absent when she needed him most. At Six years old she was sexually pawed by a male relative, which made her feel worse about herself.

She was psychically sensitive, so she could feel invisible entities following her around her whole life. They were like eyes in the corners, watching her wherever she went. I can't imagine how creepy that must have been for her as a child. When she was in high school, she became involved with a Transcendental Meditation group. Those sessions helped her get in touch with the psychic energy surrounding her. Unfortunately, two evil energies entered her during one of the sessions. They warred against each other for possession of her body. She was kicked out of the group for allowing evil into the room.
