Superb second single offering from KT Tunstall, December 7, 2007
This review is from: Saving My Face (Audio CD)
"Saving My Face," the second single off KT Tunstall's
Drastic Fantastic album, is simply a must-have for any fan. "Saving My Face" is easily one of the strongest songs off the album, and I'm glad that it was chosen as the second single (should have been the first single IMO).
And what makes this single even better is the b-side "Mothgirl." KT has yet to disappoint with her b-sides, and this is no exception. Clocking in at just over 5 minutes, "Mothgirl" could have fit perfectly in Drastic Fantastic. It's definitely one of KT's mellow, folky, dreamy acoustic songs (which one could argue she excels at). In fact it reminds me a lot of "White Bird." But "Mothgirl" has a unique song structure and maybe that's why KT chose it as a b-side. But whatever the reason, it's another winner.
I gave the first single "
Hold On" 4 stars because to me, that single's strong point is with its b-side ("Hold On" is my least favorite track from Drastic Fantastic). But I can easily give this "Saving My Face" single the full 5 stars with no reservations. These singles tend to become out-of-print fairly quickly, so any fan of KT Tunstall is advised to pick this up right away.

Worth it for the b-side, December 1, 2011
This review is from: Saving My Face (Audio CD)
If you're a fan of KT Tunstall, give this single a listen...the b-side (Mothgirl) is a softer hint of Tunstall's jazzy side, with supple vocals and mellow acoustic. Worth it, so try it.
