5.0 out of 5 stars Starfield [The Saving One], February 23, 2010
This review is from: The Saving One (Audio CD)
After the release of Starfield's critically acclaimed I Will Go album, the band hit the road with a relentless passion to reach as many fans as possible around the globe. Starfield is quickly becoming a global band on a mission to reach the world with a message of hope and salvation. With the momentum built, Starfield returned to the studio to craft their new album The Saving One which is a unique mix of songs delivering tracks that will be heard across radio airwaves as well as be sung in Sunday morning services but most importantly all will bring the listener closer to Christ. The opening title track is a great example of the worshipful style of the songs, both in melody and message it reminds me of "Reign In Us" from I Will Go .

"Rediscover You" is my new favorite song by this great band. The second verse is truly the cry of my heart as well: "I want to learn to pray The way that David prayed, I want my soul to burn when I hear Your name, I want to feel like new, I want to hunger for You. Bring me back to life like only You can do. Cause I don't want to stay the same." Wow, Tim Neufeld can really write catchy and meaningful lyrics. I've been enjoying Starfield since their debut album and "Filled With Your Glory," "Everything Is Beautiful," "Hosanna," "Reign In Us" and "I Will Go" have been in heavy rotation for me. The best part about Starfield's songs are reflected in truly biblical and prayerful lyrics set to catchy and extremely sing-able melodies. "Declaration of Dependence" is a rock song in the style of "My Generation." "Overwhelm" is one of those great passionate songs that will have you singing along in prayer to have Jesus overwhelm you. "Top Of Our Lungs" includes a great electronic keyboard part with a heavy bass beat. The chorus "We're gonna shout His praise at the top of our lungs" is sung passionately in response to the biblical truth of the pre-chorus "who the Son sets free, they are free indeed."

Starfield has once again released their best overall album, with 10 great new songs reflecting pure and honest relevance to our Faith both in our personal lives and in our Church communities. The Saving One is an album that will find its way on a lot of "best of" lists for 2010, including mine.

For me, the standout songs are "The Saving One," "Rediscover You," "Declaration of Dependence," "Overwhelm" and "Top Of Our Lungs." If you like Hillsong United, Delirious, Chris Tomlin and David Crowder*Band, then you can't go wrong with Starfield.

5.0 out of 5 stars Starfield: The Saving One, February 28, 2010
This review is from: The Saving One (Audio CD)
What can I say, These Canadian's have a beautiful heart for God. They have a element of U2- Audio Adrenaline- Chris Tomlin- Hillsong United. These songs speak from the heart and lead you into a place of musical bliss. They are talented.

This band is phenomenal. I got the album knowing that Starfield's previous albums were awesome. I can listen to enjoy every single one of there songs. Declaration of Dependence is like a Audio A feel. Reminds me from something from the Lift or Worldwide album. The harmonies are beautiful.

All the songs are about God. They are usable in church worship, and it will attract the younger people.

Get to their concert, they have a great video performance, as well the music will blow your mind. They are fun and will make you laugh. They are using their God given and I am happy to see them in that spot.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Solid CD, October 9, 2011

I've been following Starfield since 2005, when I first saw them live, and they are one of my favorite bands, though they are sadly down to the Neufield boys as permanent members. I love their passion and talent and am constantly awaiting their next release. "The Saving One" doesn't disappoint. While I think "I Will Go" was probably their best album to date, "Saving One" is still really good. Lots of pumping songs, but also some really raw, wrenching stuff. The driving "Something to Say" is probably the most emotionally open thing Tim Neufield, the primary lyricist, has penned. It's an honest outpouring of real-life doubt that every human faces, where not every emotion is pretty and joyous. The other standout to me was "Glory is Rising". Again, not quite the level that "Reign in Us" from the previous album was, but it's still worthy of a cranked-up jam session in the car. Yet another solid effort from the Canadian brothers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Yet!, August 20, 2011

I've never written one of these before so I am not quite sure what to write except that I have to say I think this is Starfield's best and most creative album yet. There are many elements to the CD that as a musician I think, "Wow! How did they think of that?" From ballad to rock, to a dance beat thrown in #8, to the lyrics, they all point to Jesus - the Saving One.

An album that again points me back to Jesus and reminds me that no matter how far I feel from him, even if I feel like I am just singing "a tired song" or that "the passions gone" that we have the opportunity to "get it back." It takes us looking for Him and pursuing Him because He is already pursuing us. The reminder that we are not too far gone for our Savior is such a theme for this CD.

Also, The Saving One has a hymn-like feel with rich lyrics that make me think of the Getty's music.

Again, another great job by Starfield! Looking forward to what's next!

I like more tracks on this album than almost any other that I've bought. They have great lyrics and great music! Would definitely recommend this to anyone who also listens to Hillsong, Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, DCB, etc.

This is another CD from Starfield, and its just what you would expect from them. Its slowing than I like most of the time but is a constant reminder of God and does glorify His Name! Great Modern Worship CD.
