Book Description

From the # 1 New York Times bestselling author of Breaking Nova comes a gripping story about what it takes to save the one you love . . .

Nova Reed can't forget him-Quinton Carter, the boy with the honey-brown eyes who made her realize she deserved more than an empty life. His pain was so similar to her own. But Nova has been coming to terms with her past and healing, while Quinton is out there somewhere, sinking deeper. She's determined to find him and help him . . . before it's too late.

Nova has haunted his dreams for nearly a year-but Quinton never thought a sweet, kind person like her would care enough about a person like him. To Quinton, a dark, dangerous life is exactly what he deserves. And Nova has no place in it. But Nova has followed him to Las Vegas, and now he must do whatever it takes to keep her away, to maintain his self-imposed punishment for the unforgivable things he's done. But there's one flaw in his plan: Nova isn't going anywhere . . .

After waiting MONTHS, this is what I had to read?!?! The most depressing story about drug addiction and trying to get someone out of it that I've EVER read AND with no ending to the story!!!! OMG! Now I have to wait until August of 2014 to see if there is an ending to Quinton and Nova?!? I think I could have skipped this one and waited. Really didn't need all this detailed info on his drug life. Seems it could have really been condensed and let the readers have it all at once.....just drag it out, sell those books!!! Really enjoy this author, just tired of these tactics of so many....losing me.

    4.0 out of 5 stars Quinton's story. February 4, 2014
    By K. Bias
    Format:Kindle Edition
Nova and Quinton had a challenging beginning and both have many issues past and present (Breaking Nova). Their time spent together the past summer opened the door to a connection that was unexpected, significant, erratic, and overwhelming. And it left a mark on both on them. It all came to a breaking point and they parted. Nova has worked hard to break free from her past, get healthy, and try to move on. But she cannot shake the fact that she left Quinton behind in a bad situation.

And in her absence, Quinton has sunk into a downward spiral that he cannot seem to recover from...a haze of drugs, depression, meaningless encounters, and no direction. He is on a path of destruction and embracing the peace of dying sooner rather than later. He does not care. He does not want to feel anything. But unfortunately he does feel feel negative things...terrible loss, guilt, hopelessness, and unworthiness.

It is up to Nova to chase him down and make him face his demons and fight for him even when he does not want to fight for himself. But he is barricaded behind near impenetrable walls of his own making. He is numbing his pain to keep it buried. He has a death wish. He feels unworthy. He does not feel like he deserves, happiness, Nova, or a good life due to his past mistakes.

But Nova was not able to save her boyfriend, Landon and she is determined that she is not giving up until she saves Quinton. She is a girl on a mission...a dangerous, scary, and frequently disappointing one. She is persistent, fearless, pushy and provides Quinton a sliver of hope. Although Quinton does not want to admit or truly embrace it. My heart broke again for Quinton.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dark, Devastating, Gritty, and Addictive! February 4, 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition
    My Thoughts:

I have read many Stories by Jessica Sorensen. I have learned that her prose flow beautifully, her characters are complex and multilayered, and the plots in her stories often deal with dark, realistic, and heartbreaking topics. Her stories always take me to a dark place. They have a way of pulling me in and completely hooking me. The Nova Series, is by far the darkest of all of her stories. It deals with the harsh realities, ugliness, and consequences of drug addiction.

In Saving Quinton, we get both Nova and Quinton's dual perspectives. Nova has been working on her recovery, and is in a place where she knows that she wants to heal, and live a happy life. She no longer drinks or does drugs, and she has finally dealt with her deceased boyfriend, Landon's, suicide. Nova is doing well in college, and works for a suicide hotline. She has gotten even closer to her mother, and has befriended, Lea, a young woman who she met at support group for people who have lost loved one's to suicide. Lea is a great friend and room mate. Nova can't stop thinking and worrying about Quinton. He changed her life last summer, and they had a strong connection with one another. Nova, with the help of Lea searches for Quinton. She is determined to find him and save him from his drug addiction. She feels like she failed Landon and is determined that this time she is determined to succeed in saving Quinton. However, when she finds Quinton, she realizes that saving him is going to be the challenge of a lifetime.

Quinton is in a very dark place in his life. He is a drug addict living with other hardcore addicts, and dealing drugs, so he can get the money for his much needed fix. Quinton wants to die.

4.0 out of 5 stars Delves deeper into the drug scene of Las Vegas.... April 1, 2015
Brought to you by OBS reviewer Una

The second book to the trilogy this book isn’t any lighter than the first and is even deeper as it delves into the drug scene of Las Vegas.

Nova Reed who is now at school and doing well can’t forget Quinton Carter who she met in the summer. Knowing he is troubled and going down the path of drugs she is compelled to help him. She doesn’t want to be too late as she was with her own boyfriend who committed suicide. When she finds Quinton in Las Vegas he has moved beyond weed and is now doing hard drugs. He lives in a dilapidated housing complex with his cousin and Delilah Nova’s best friend of the past summer and her boyfriend. Delilah’s boyfriend is dealing and selling and all are victims of their drug habits. When Nova arrives Quinton physically has lost weight is disheveled in dress and is beginning to go downhill. She is persistent and won’t give up on him even though he tries to reject her. Although fragile herself she knows that she must somehow get help to him.

Quinton is on a self-destruct journey. He feels that the dangerous lifestyle he has chosen is perfect payment for what he did when he crashed the car and killed his girlfriend and cousin. He feels rejected by his father who he feels resents him because his mother died in childbirth and he has been the receiver of nasty comments from the girls families who told him it should have been him who had died. He continues to put himself in dangerous situations as he gets beaten several times by the drug lords. When Nova comes into his life again he finds it hard to believe that she would still care for the flawed person he has become. His biggest fear is that she might get harmed in the drug scene he is living in.
