5.0 out of 5 stars A Wild Rollercoaster Ride May 24, 2010
Format:Paperback
This was one of the best books I have read in a long time. I could not put it down. I read these 200 pages faster than any of the last 20-30 books I have read. The plot has so many twists and turns I could not keep count of them. That, it turns out, was part of the plot of the book.

The central player, Sam Case, was put through so much that he could not keep track of everything himself. Of course, through it all, Donovan Creed was masterminding the action so there could be a happy ending for all the players that he thought to be important.

Sam Case is in the business of hiding money. He hides money for several very rich very nasty people. He has come up with a way to keep the government form finding out about billions of dollars. Most of this money belongs to mobsters, terrorists, and other people you don't want to cross like Donavan Creed ( a terrorist assassin for the government and general killer for hire). Now someone has found out and wants to pressure Sam into giving them information so they can steal all that money.

Saving Rachel A Donovan Creed Novel by John Locke is the third in the Donovan Creed series and the fastest passed yet.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good buy for the price... January 8, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Saving Rachel came to me quite by accident. I was about to go on vacation and I went to Amazon in search of a nice tight read for the beach which was not to burn a hole in my pocket. I chanced on Saving Rachel, and bought it primarily because of the reviews and then because of the price. I cannot say I regret it. it IS a good read.

It's certainly pacy, it's a mystery story, and there are enough twists and turns in the plots to keep you hooked. I did like the way the writer used his language, and how he laid out the story. What I did Not like much is his characterization. It could have been better and if he had paid attention to his characters a bit more, I would have granted another star in the rating. Saving Rachel would certainly have been placed much higher in the lists if some more time had been devoted in the development of characters.

In all, a good pacy read for a relaxed day and the money spent is well-justified.

2.0 out of 5 stars Just didn't get it.... January 9, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I too was fooled by all of the 5 star ratings. Either these were planted, or this book just isn't my style. While I do enjoy a good mystery, this book just had too many chaotic and non sensical plot turns. I could not sympathize with any one character and I found the writing style to be lacking.
I also found the ending to be too abrupt, I felt like more could have been added to wrap the storyline up.
On the plus side, it was a short read and it only cost me .99.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievably awful January 14, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
It starts out as a nice 'light' thriller. An easy-to-read quick page turner. There is just one major flaw. The plot is way over the top. At first it's just unrealistic but it gets worse and worse. By far the most unbelievable story I've ever read. And for me, that makes it hard to care for the characters and keep reading. Pity I did finish it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not waste your time February 2, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I have downloaded and read many books on my Kindle but this is my first review.
Do not waste your time reading this! The entire premise is unbelievable as is the dialog and main character. I am glad to see real reviews coming on line as the earlier reviews must have been created by a marketing company. Save your time and money and find anything else.

1.0 out of 5 stars Preposterous Juvenile Appallingly Bad! January 11, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Do not believe the 5-star reviews! This novel, at best, appears to be a poor, cobbled-together product of the Infinite Monkey Theorem. The plot (and I use the term loosely) is an ADHD snarl of preposterous suppositions that aren't connected and lead nowhere.
The prose actually wasn't too bad except for excessively detailed descriptions. There's hope that the author may produce something worth reading some day if he can learn to outline a plot--but this novel isn't it. Who selects this stuff?

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of time February 21, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I have been watching this novel for a while since I was not sure whether to purchase it or not. I figured for 99 cents why not. I wish I could get back the time wasted reading this book. The plot was just too stupid to be believable even for a novel.
