5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone has time to save the world.
Saving the World in Your Spare Time is the perfect response to this all-too-common excuse: "I wish I could do something to help the environment/my community/charity/etc. but I just don't have the time/money/energy/etc." Klotz expects her readers to have very full plates to begin with, and her multitude of varied suggestions reflects this. Whether you want to...

1.0 out of 5 stars A Publisher that is not in touch with her subject material
The only reason I gave this book one star is because it's not possible to give it a lower rating. This is one of the worst books I've ever seen. Laura Klotz very plainly was just trying to cash in on editorial style books and literature with material of somewhat questionable merit. She seems to think that her story values can be merged into modern editorials for obvious...

Whether you want to help the homeless, animals, the environment, your community, or a host of other causes, there is something in this book for you, regardless of how much you can commit. The section on charitable and philanthropic websites is especially useful in this day and age, proving that yes, it really does only take a minute to change a life. Perhaps more importantly, this book is very accessible. The guilt trips so common in other books of this genre are nowhere to be found. Saving the World in Your Spare Time is brief and direct, and Klotz's conversational tone gives the impression of getting advice from an old friend. I highly recommend this book.

Informative and interesting, Laura Klotz's writing style is unique and interesting. You can tell just how much she believes in the subject matter, in the way it comes through her text. One of the better writers I've read in a long while.

The only reason I gave this book one star is because it's not possible to give it a lower rating. This is one of the worst books I've ever seen. Laura Klotz very plainly was just trying to cash in on editorial style books and literature with material of somewhat questionable merit. She seems to think that her story values can be merged into modern editorials for obvious financial gain as a writer. As a writer, she is certainly questionable as she loses touch with the information she cites and the attempt to blend it to her theme.

The cover, while admittedly of somewhat higher quality than the writing, is likewise disappointing; possibly it would have been better to investigate the title more closely rather than just being clever with a branding style title. Amusingly, readers are provided with an attempt to make this book valuable when in reality it is rather poorly written in relation to the issues it attempts rather poorly to describe. Possibly Ms. Klotz should refresh her self acclaimed skills with a refresher course at one of the local universities or in her case possibly at the primer reading level. Her story and writing are somewhat confusing and non cohesive.

Her ability to publish more than one book with a reliable publisher is evidence that she has some abilities but I would suggest that the content is very weak and mostly boring in comparison to the title.

The only good thing about this book is possibly Ms. Klotz can SAVE THE WORLD as her title suggests and save her writing skills for personal notes and leave writing to more professional authors.
