5.0 out of 5 stars All good things come to those who wait, September 23, 2006
Mushroomhead's newest cd, "Savior Sorrow" hit selfs this past week and has already seen its share of positive and negative reviews. The new cd welcomed in their new singer, Waylon who has done an amazing job on this record and also marked the departure of one of the orignal memeber's Bronson who left the band in the summer. The sound is very different from previous releases but that's in a good way. No band should release the same material over and over. This new cd is different from XIII, which when it first came out recieved a lot of critism also, but at the same time you can tell it's shroom's work.
Savior Sorrow is about(opinion) that a savior and his sorrow. He cannot save himself and nobody can save him. By being a savior, he must accept his own demise and thus questions everything.

1. 1200- the first song of the cd really sets the mood of the rest of the cd. It's a pulse pounding soung that kicks the cd off in full stride and it just feels like a classic mrh song. The first two lines really set the theme for the entire albulm, " Is there really anyone there
Fall on deaf ears all of my prayers". It's by far one of my favorite songs on the cd.
2. Simple Survival- The first single off the cd. This cd and this song seem to have a much bigger industrial influence than the other cd's.
3. Damage Done-A great song, brutal with an egyptian vibe...
4. Save Us-A very mellow, beautiful song that goes together with embrace the ending, and the first extra track on the best buy version
5. Tattoo- A very very heavy song that has a guest vocalist(Sean Kane from Gizmachi) and is very similar to The Dream is Over on XIII.
6. Erase The Doubt- Erase the Doubt is unique...very different from the rest of the cd...it takes a few listens too but its very good..a lot of distortion..
7. Burn- The first song that was available off the albulm for everyone to hear thanks to Decibil Magazine...Very heavy, brutal.
8. Just Pretending- By far one the best songs on the albulm. Everything about this song is perfect period.
9. The Need- A very mellow song similar to Save Us.
10. Cut Me- Haunting, Chilling, Eerie...Very good but this song can send chills up your spine
11. The Fallen- An interesting song, a very solid chorus
12. Embrace the Ending- Mushroomhead has done just about everything in thier many years of existence but never until now have they done an acoustic song. But Embrace the Ending is absolutly amazing. Jeff and Walyon really make this song great.

Likes: If your a fan of Mushroomhead's keyboards and thought XIII lacked keyboards you wont be dissapointed with this albulm. Stitch also seems to have a much greater presence on this albulm. Everyone is in full effect. The cd is a great cd that you can easily put on repeat and enjoy for the entire day.
dislikes: the only thing i dislike on this cd is the guitars. I just wish they were a little less prominent than they are. I know shroom doesn't have complex guitars but if their were just a few more notes to each song. I cant think of anything else. I really enjoy this cd.

I highly reccomend this cd to everyone..its a great cd with everything needed too make this band huge..now if the media will let them is the question..
This cd has what i believe is nessary of music, balance. Every genre needs balance. This cd contains it's high and lows and most of the songs are very well created to hav balance within the songs
i hope this helped...

5.0 out of 5 stars In an age of redundancy, Mushroomhead strives for something different, March 24, 2007
By Shadowrun (Nowhere) - See all my reviews
Tired riffs? This album is a showcase of musical range. The entire spectrum of musical instruments is used in this 12-track epic album. True, the boyz have offered a few more melodic tracks, but what a beautiful blend of the hard and raw with soul-searching, searing rhythms of a Mushroomhead nature. You're not going to find Def Leppard power-ballads, or old-man-Lars-just-looking-for-a-steady-paycheck patterns. This is a unique blend that holds your attention all the way through. Savior Sorrow is not XIII, but Mushroomhead set a high bar with their last release that will likely never be exceeded. I'm not going to compare the two, because it isn't fair. Instead, compare Savior Sorrow with the crap you hear on the radio today, and tell me that this isn't a 5-star masterpiece.

5.0 out of 5 stars Different, but still excellent, October 11, 2006
By Ms_Moody (Doylestown, PA United States) - See all my reviews
I love Mushroomhead's albums XX and XIII, and this one is different, but still great. This album may have more of a mainstream-feel to it, but I owuldn't agree that Mushroomhead has 'sold-out' or tried to change their sound. They still have their same trademark mix of metal, ambiance, and that something extra that cannot be named. The creativity, intensity, and allure of Mushroomhead's music is still here. If you liked XX and XIII, give Savior Sorrow a try. It may not be to your liking, but then again it may, like it was for me.
