More About the Author

A hopeless romantic with a bit of sarcasm thrown in for good measure, Shanna Hatfield is a bestselling author of sweet romantic fiction written with a healthy dose of humor. In addition to blogging and eating too much chocolate, she is completely smitten with her husband, lovingly known as Captain Cavedweller.

Shanna creates character-driven romances with realistic heroes and heroines. Her historical westerns have been described as "reminiscent of the era captured by Bonanza and The Virginian" while her contemporary works have been called "laugh-out-loud funny, and a little heart-pumping sexy without being explicit in any way."

She is a member of Western Writers of America, Women Writing the West, Sweet Romance Reads, and Romance Writers of America.

Many ideas on how to decorate - presented in text, except for one photo.

A handful of recipes with canned soup, one with canned alfredo sauce, and a trifle using purchased cake, a box of pudding, canned fruit, and a tub of whipped product. One of the recipes included a photo - from the cover.

After the recipes is a story about a man abandoning his fiance for another woman a week before their wedding. But there were two photos promoting books.

Even the price of FREE does not help this book. It is full of common sense and very few recipes. For a free book it is OK, but it totally under delivered on what was promised.

The cover of "Savvy Holiday Entertaining" will lead you to think it's a cookbook; it's not. There are more recipes in one of Diane Mott Davidson's mysteries. "Savvy Holiday Entertaining" is mostly a book on holiday decorating for your party and tips on different types of parties. It might be useful for a new bride and groom who have never entertained, but most of the contents of this eBook are pretty commonsense. Martha Stewart won't be worried that "Savvy Holiday Entertaining" -- even though it's free -- will be cutting into the sales of her entertainment books.

Recommended only for those brand-new to entertaining and only because it is, after all, free. If you can't afford one of the flashier entertainment how-to guides and can make the time, you can do better than "Savvy Holiday Entertaining" at your public library.

The Savvy Holiday Entertaining cookbook contains commonsense entertaining tips with a few recipes. Most of the information would be useful for the first time host or hostess, but for savvy entertainers most of the information is old hat.

You will find a few recipes and an excerpt from a novel included with this book. I could not find an interactive table of contents. Perhaps I missed it. Well I found the interactive table of contents when I clicked on the recipe title called Christmas Salad. Strange but true. I guess the table of contents is "hidden" on all the first recipe titles while the second recipe title listed takes you to her Savvy Entertaining website.

Some of the recipes you will find include:

Banana Bread
Christmas Salad
Pork Roast
Easy Alfredo Lasagna

This is a unique cookbook written by the author Shanna Hatfield.

Recommend with caveats given.

Needs visuals. Holidayentertaining is all about how it looks. A title doesn't grab my attention, a picture does. Needs pictures!

Another 'savvy' entertaining book from an author who offers insightful tips, easy to make and tasty recipes, presented in a warm, friendly way. Shanna Hatfield has a blog that's mentioned in the book which I also checked out. Being a blogger myself it was fun to see, and I give her a big thumbs up for the recipes in this book having links to her blog (touch the blue highlighted recipe names to be taken to the blog posts) where you can view great photos of the making of the recipes as well as a photo of the finished product.

The book isn't just about recipes though. It's about offering tips, ideas and a guide to hosting holiday get togethers. I find the book to be a compilation of great advice and easy to make recipes that you'd share with friends. Shanna does this in a way that makes you feel like a friend reading it, which is a bonus!

You will find things like 'Creating a Coffee Station' and 'Gift Wrapping Basics' peppered in with recipes for desserts, snacks, main dishes and a festive drink holiday drink, Pomegranate Punch. This book is a great book for those who are hosting a holiday party for the first time, and for those who wish to get tuned into the holiday spirit and discover a few new tricks and recipes.

I highly recommend this book, and Shanna's other 'savvy' books like: Savvy Autumn Entertaining (Savvy Entertaining) which offer a fun read with great tips and recipes.

NOTE: No, Shanna and I are not in cahootz to get you to buy these books. I really, really like them and think she deserves kudos for her excellent efforts!
