My Sisters Keeper,
By
This review is from: The Savvy Sistahs: A Novel (Paperback)
Simply put The Savvy Sistahs by Brenda Jackson is a girlfriend-to-girlfriend novel with a twist. These girlfriends, Amber, Brandy and Carla, are not lifelong friends that met during childhood and remained friends, they met at a support group for business women in Orlando, Florida and from that forged their own triple bond of friendship. Each came into the group with their own set of baggage but one thing remains constant, they each have no time or patience for relationships with the opposite sex. Amber is a survivor of an abusive marriage and the owner of Amber's Books and Gifts. Through a divorce settlement, Brandy becomes the owner of the St. Laurent Hotel. Brandy was highlighted in Jackson's novel Family Reunion and someone is back stalking her with ties to that novel. Carla, a single mother, is named CEO of Osborne Computer Network after her father dies and finds her company the object of a hostile takeover. The men highlighted in this story are endearing as well and also carry some of the same baggage when it comes to relationships with the opposite sex. Cord Jeffries is an accountant and a very bitter man who must learn to let go of the past and judge people as individuals. Grey Masters is a private investigator and ex-FBI agent who has kept a haunting secret from his family about his failed marriage and Jesse Devereau is a west coast corporate raider with no shame to his manipulations and takeovers of successful companies. What role do these men play in the lives of the savvy sistahs? In true Brenda Jackson fashion, The Savvy Sistahs is a novel about family and the ties that bind, finding love in the most unexpected places and last but certainly not least, new friendships that span the test of time. enjoyable contemporary romance,
This review is from: The Savvy Sistahs: A Novel (Paperback)
In Orlando the three thirtyish ladies met one year ago at a meeting of the Savvy Sistahs Who Mean Business. They became friends and regularly meet to share their business successes. They also share failure when it comes to men.Pregnant Amber Stuart caught her husband in bed with another woman and went crazy leading to a miscarriage and a divorce. She now owns Amber's Books & Gifts. Just before her wedding Brandy Bennett found a video of her future spouse in bed with her best friend. Using the video as a weapon she gained an immediate divorce with her settlement consisting of the St. Laurent Hotel. Carla Osborne runs Osborne Computer Network while raising her two year old by herself. Cord Jeffrey chokes on a cookie in Amber's store, sending her in a panic even after he recovers. Brandy hires former FBI Agent Grey Masters when someone begins to stalk her. Carla fights off a hostile takeover of her business led by Jesse Deveraux, the only man she ever loved literally and emotionally. The three relationship failures have found love, but will any one of them realize what they have if they go for it? Brenda Jackson displays she is a savvy sistah when it comes to successfully providing an enjoyable contemporary romance starring three delightful single women. THE SAVVY SISTAHS contains three prime intermingling story lines as each of the female trio stars in their own respective tale, but overlap just enough so that the audience feels like participants in a cleverly designed plot. Ms. Jackson provides a wonderful novel that gifts fans of strong female protagonists with an integrated charming triad. Harriet Klausner

I really enjoyed the book! You need some sisters in your corner like Carla,Amber and Brandy. One thing about them is that they took the time out for each other and didn't dog the other when they went celibate. It was moreso a team effort. So I enjoyed it and recommend it!! Get one for your favorite girl!

Good Book,

I really enjoyed this book. The only problem I had with it is that Brandy's story overshadowed the stories of Carla and Amber. Every other page was about Brandy and Grey, and as a result, their relationship was able to develop more fully than the other two ladies' relationships with their men. I especially enjoyed Amber's story and if the author had elaborated on it a bit more, I would have appreciated it. Overall, it was a good book that is worth your time.

A Book About Real People,
By Sanas E. Murray (New Orleans, Louisiana) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Savvy Sistahs: A Novel (Paperback)
I really enjoyed reading this book. The women in the story had real issues. They weren't complaining about stupid stuff. They were women willing to move on and start over. That not only took courage, it also took time. But in the end, all the heartbreak and drama they experienced was worth it. An excellent read.

Not bad.,
This review is from: The Savvy Sistahs: A Novel (Paperback)
This was my first book by Ms Jackson. There were a couple of times that I felt that the women's lives could have been portrayed better while reading the book. However, once I thought about reality...the reality is that real life situations are not always pretty and can be downright eye opening. I identified with all ladies in one way or another. It is because I was able to see a part of me in each of these women that I enjoyed the book.

Two savvy sistahs not sure of the other one,
By Denny "Den" (London,UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Savvy Sistahs: A Novel (Paperback)
Three business ladies meet at a support group and decide to be friends. One of the things they have in common is broken hearts.
Brandy Bennett (from A family reunion) - divorcee, successful hotel owner is being stalked. Grey Masters (brother to Quinn Masters in AFU)is sent to help her. The chemistry between them is hot and the heroine is not afraid to reveal her feelings (I hate when characters play stupid games). Amber - a bookshop owner and voluptous woman, another divorcee who was emotionally abused starts a new life in Orlanda and comes across accountant Cord Jeffries. Can she let go of past hurts to find a new future? Carla - business woman of a software company . Without her story this would be a 5 star book but sorry her anger does not make sense. She gets pregnant after a one night stand but feels betrayed when she sees the man she slept with in the paper with another woman. Where's the broken heartedness in that? Anyway she gets pregnant and makes a stupid decision that comes back to haunt her 2 years later. I agree AFU did not need another sequel but its good to come across the other characters in their minor roles. Worth buying but just close your eyes when you read Carla's story.

Brenda Jackson is one of the best!,

I am hooked on Brenda Jackson's novels. She is a great writer. She knows how to mix, romance, passion, desire, and sensuality all in one. She even adds some mystery in this one. If you are a die-hard romantic you will enjoy her novels. This one centers on 3 women who are very successful and overcome past experiences that could taken them in other directions. The story evolves finding each character encountering a man that steals their hearts. Jackson walks you through how each character's relationship develops, with all leading to a fairy tale ending. It may or may not be realistic but it is nice to believe that fairy tale relationships can and do exist. I enjoyed reading this book and found myself laughing out loud.
