Shanna Hatfield has a website that is very nice. Her book puts together some really good ideas to celebrate spring with some yummy recipes. I was worried when I came across the vodka crust recipe. I remember when it first came out from America's Test Kitchen, it was such a unique way of making crust and very original. Without a nod to ATK I was worried the rest of the recipes from the book might be from other sources, but other than the panna cotta being close to a Southern Living recipe, the rest seem to come from Shanna's own website, whew. It's nice to review a book these days that isn't cut and paste! Yay

there is a fully functional linking Table of Contents for ease of getting around in the book. I can't wait to make the lime floral centerpiece, I bet that smells fantastic.

Although a short book there are good ideas for bringing spring in, from basic spring cleaning to giving your house good smells and pretty flowers.

While this series has been released to accompany the author's romance novels, hence the excerpts at the end, and they're not chock-full of HD photos and Preston Bailey flower arrangements, there's something charming about each of them.

Savvy Spring Entertaining is simple and sweet, with entertaining tips and ideas that are for real people - not hostesses with thousands to blow on a big shebang. This is not going to help you create a dream wedding or soiree-of-the-year, and that isn't the intent of this book. This is going to help you create memorable, personal gatherings and get-togethers that have panache, and every little idea can be adapted to your own style... without having to spend weeks preparing.

Yes, there are a lot of words and not a lot of pictures. This is a GOOD THING! It's a (free) eBook and photographs don't always display well, and what's more, using your mind to envision the author's ideas makes those ideas even more YOU - and more do-able.

Perhaps the best thing in any of these books is the link to the author's blog. There one can find even more recipes, entertaining ideas, and insights into the author's life. She's a delightful woman, and I'm glad to have found her blog. While I'm not a romance reader, she can definitely count me as one of her fans.
