Shanna Hatfield gives terrific tips for summer entertaining. Her checklist for picnics reminds of my checklist for 'hotel camping!' Her ideas for themed parties are fun and don't require a huge expenditure to create a memorable event. The ideas are focused on making it easy for the hosts and fun for everyone. Her 'Summer Entertaining Essentials' spurred me to finally make the phone call to arrange for the canopy for our HOA 4th of July block party, which is just around the corner. There are also some timely reminders about food safety for entertaining outdoors in warm weather.

I enjoyed her list of '30 Things to Do This Summer' which include such activities as taking a parent to lunch, making root beer floats, and running through a sprinkler.

The recipes are quick and simple - things like fruit salads, Watermelon and Feta Salad (yum!), an easy crockpot Barbeque Pork, and several no-bake fast desserts.

The table of contents and formatting worked great on my android tablet, and I didn't find any typos. While there are no photographs, this short book gives many great ideas. Very much worth a buck!

I was disappointed in this book. I was expecting a traditional cookbook with good grouping of food. Instead it is more a narrative more for people who do not have a lot of experience with entertaining.
