My Cats LOVE This, October 22, 2009
This review is from: Savvy Tabby Wooden Cat Window Seat White (Misc.)
This is a great bed. I was hesitant because of the price but it was worth it! I wanted something that would blend in with the decor and it looks very nice. It is not an eye sore at all. My cats really enjoy sleeping on this and looking out the window. They prefer this to any other furniture in the house!
I have a very shallow window sill. It did not fit but I was able to modify it. The fabric is very hard to clean. I wish it were removable so that I could throw it into the washing machine. I am going to start putting a pillow case over it instead. It's not a big problem.
Overall, I really like it and I would recommend this product to anyone with cats!

Best cat window seat I've found, June 2, 2011
This review is from: Savvy Tabby Wooden Cat Window Seat White (Misc.)
I did a lot of research on window seats/shelves/whatever you like to call them, before finally settling on this one. The only drawback was that there wasn't a lot of useful product information available to help make the decision, and few helpful reviews. So I'm attempting to remedy both problems.
Included in the box:
- 1 wood window seat. Seems to be solid wood, not too heavy so I doubt it's particle board. Painted white. Outside dimensions: 18"x14"x3"; inside dimensions (usable space for my cat): 16"x12"x2.5".
- 2 wood brackets. Same stuff as the seat itself. Roughly 9"x6.5". Holes pre-drilled for attaching to seat; holes are lined with metal threads.
- 4 2"x4" black velcro strips.
- 4 screws for the brackets.
- 2 1.5" screws for securing the seat to the sill.
- 1 16"x12"x.75" removable foam cushion; black material is synthetic and soft.
- 1 striped removable cover; material is synthetic and soft.
- Instructions, though it's so simple you don't really need them.
Setup:
Super easy, but it'll take you 15-30 minutes. Took me closer to 30, but that was just because I had to fiddle with the bracket position a bit. The pre-drilled holes in the legs had a bit of paint in them so I had to clean them out (just by working a screw in and out a couple times). But since the interior threads are metal (good quality!), there was no danger of chewing up the wood and ruining the thread.
You can adjust the position of the brackets using the pre-drilled holes through the bottom of the seat, an inch apart. I have 4" sills and none of the pre-drilled holes quite put the seat flush against the window, so I used ordinary stick-on felt pads where the brackets hit the wall to compensate. Works great, and protects the wall too.
The velcro seems heavy-duty enough to hold my cat, at 8.5lbs. I have pushed/banged on it fairly hard and don't detect any tearing or slipping, so I have not taken the additional step of screwing the seat to the sill.
It is unfortunate that the only option with most window seats seems to be velcro vs. screws in the sill; obviously the screws leave holes, and the velcro will definitely take the paint off. But these seem to be the standard options, so whudyagonnado.
The cushion and cover are both removable and washable, contrary to another review. The black cushion just lifts out, and the striped cover has ties underneath that attach to the seat with a bow (or other knot of your choice). This is actually a key reason I opted for this seat: we have hot, humid summers and I predict my longhair cat will prefer lying directly on cool white wood than a hot cushion.
Overall it is really a nice piece of hardware. I live in an older house with lovely decorative stools & aprons, and this seat blends right in without seeming ostentatious or pretentious. Very happy with this purchase, and the furball is too!
