More About the Author

Marcia L. VanderWoude was born in Grand Rapids Michigan in 1943. She was the daughter of Dr. John Bratt, who was a professor at Calvin College from 1936 to 1976. After earning two degrees from the University of Michigan, she had a short career in the dental field and retired from teaching in the Dental Hygiene department at Grand Rapids Community College after her second child was born in 1976. Marcia started her 30 year career as a financial adviser at Merrill Lynch in 1980. After retirement from the brokerage industry in 2003, she wrote $AVVY WOMEN $MART CHOICES, a collection of real-life stories of her women clients and the smart choices that they made in financial and estate planning. Currently, Marcia teaches Personal Finance at Grand Valley State University.

Marcia Vanderwoude is the ONLY investment advisor I would trust to grow my money. Her advise about covered calls in one chapter is worth the price of this book alone. My only complaint is that it is mostly just a collection of stories of women who made dumb or smart decisions and a paragraph or two of commentary at the end of each story.
