A Masterpiece! Really!,
By
This review is from: Sax & Flute Man (Audio CD)
James is ON on this CD. It is from the 1970s, and the accompaniment shows that. However, this is a classic recording. I still sing the melodies and improvisations through my day. He is lyrical and brilliant with his improvisation here. I consider this to be a masterpiece of improvisation actually, right up there with Sonny Rollin's Saxophone Collosus and Miles Davis's Kind of Blue. The funny thing is almost no one knows about this recording. I have listened to it for the last 15 years and finally thought I should share how great it is. This is by far my favorite James Moody recording.

FUSION MOODY,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Hey, it's James Fusion, complete with synthesiser, electric bass and a noticable conga drummer - with an R&B beat. Not my bag. If it's yours, there are four more tracks of James with synthesiser backing on MOVING FORWARD.

Unique James Moody,

Classic 1970's jazz. James Moody spanned several jazz genres over his decades. This album is a bit different as he does popular melodies from the 60's with a funk background. As usual, his playing is clean and crisp. I bought the vinyl when it first came out, and played it endlessly. Glad to see it available on CD.
