Saxology- a field worthy of study.,
By Band Guy "bandguy1" (Woodland Hills, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Saxology (Audio CD)
With this new offering, Dick Oatts and company hit it out of the park. The interwoven improv of Oatts and Jerry Bergonzi has a subtlety, transparency, and intimacy that evokes the Gerry Mulligan quartet albums with Bob Brookmeyer and Paul Desmond, but with an edge at times that brings to mind Adderly and Coltrane. If you're in the market for a new favorite album, give this one a listen. But beware, the study of saxology can be quite addictive.
