5.0 out of 5 stars Finally On CD in The States!, April 19, 2009

Sussex Pond Pudding (Somewhere in the desert, CA) - See all my reviews
(VINE VOICE)
This review is from: Saxophone Concertos (Audio CD)
What a delight to find out that this has been issued on CD in the States. I paid quite a bit of money for this on a trip to Europe last year after owning the LP for decades. Rousseau is simply the best classical saxophonist I have ever heard. His is a very human sound, unlike so many others who make the saxophone sound emotionless, flat and horn-like. His Glazunov and his Villa-Lobos are without a doubt the best available. No lover of classical music or the saxophone should be without this wonderful recording of these all too unfamiliar pieces in their collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Historic Recording, July 15, 2009
By
This review is from: Saxophone Concertos (Audio CD)
I first heard this album in 1976, I was 18. I played it over and over again, and dreamed of one day studying with Dr. Rousseau and perhaps even performing at the high level presented on this recording. A few years later I was fortunate enough to study with Eugene Rousseau.

Now I am 51, I still find the playing on this CD inspiring and beautiful.
I continue to work to perform at the level presented on this recording.
Bravo! Eugene Rousseau

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Rousseau, November 4, 2009
By
This review is from: Saxophone Concertos (Audio CD)
Rousseau's concerto collection is a definitive example of these classic masterpieces for saxophone. His recordings are all excellent, but this one is a must for any saxophonist interested in the classics.
