Personally, I'm not a huge Dora fan, but my daughter is, so I'm looking past the fact that it's Dora to review it.

We've had Dora goes to the dentist for awhile now, and it was really helpful when we went to the dentist the last time, so I figured this would be a good addition to our Dora library, and I was right.

Like in the dentist book, Dora introduces several of the doctor's tools (stethoscope, otoscope, reflex hammer, etc.) to the reader, as well as showing the nurse and waiting room.

Anything to help my child calm down at the doctor's office is great, and when she knows what things are, sometimes she's just calmer overall. We'll have to see at the next visit if it really worked, but at least she knows now what the otoscope is.

Ever since my kids had this book, my twins always play doctors. Now, I find it easier to give them a check-up whenever they're sick. They seem to know what to do.

My daughter loves Dora so she therefore loves this book. I don't know if it will help with her doctor anxieties or not but she loves reading about Dora's visit with Dr. Lopez. We also got the Dora visits the dentist and she loves it equally.

Bought this book so my DD will be more comfortable everytime we visit her doctor. And it worked! She was used to be scared and crying everytime we visit her pedia, probably because of the shots she gets every visit. And now, when we have to see her doctor, I will just always remind her on how brave Dora was and will ask her if she is as brave as Dora, and from there, she just sit still and listen and follow whatever her doctor asks her to do. Happy Mommy!

I really loved it because my grand-niece is going to the doctor for her check-up and it helped ease her into accepting the trip to the doctor.

I bought this book because I wanted to
read to my daughter about real life things
that she could relate to through one of her favorite
characters. I read the book to her a few times
and today when i told her that we would be going to the dr. for
a vaccine she said "Like Dora". when the doctor weighed her
or did different things that they showed in the book
we compared it to how dora did the same thing.

I got this book, along with a doctor kit, for my 3 year old for Christmas. She had recently had her 3 year check-up so she enjoyed the book and remembering that she had a similar doctor experience. The doctor kit she has has all the same instruments so it has made it even more fun.

One of our daughters favorites. Has made visiting the doctor much less stressful. Our 3 year old even knows what an otoscope is!

My daughters both love Dora, and I found this book was great for preparing them for those regular doctor visits. This definitely helped my 3 year old, and hopefully as my 22 month old gets a little older, she'll appreciate it more as well. This is one of their favorite books to read for bedtime. The pictures are great, as we talk about all the little details on every page.

Although this book is as formulaic and contrived as all the other Dora books (and perhaps moreso), it is a good way for young children to feel comfortable going to the doctor. And, although contrived, it is rather cute how they worked going to the doctor into the typical three-stop adventure, complete with the map.

First, Dora and her mother have to find and get on the Number 4 (Numero quattro) bus, then they have to go to the waiting room, and then the nurse will call them back to the examination room for the check-up. Once in the examination room, first the nurse weighs and measures Dora, then the doctor examines her by listening to her heart, testing her reflexes, and looking at her throat. And finally, because she's such a good patient, Dora gets to pick a prize from the prize basket (and she needs your help to reach it!).

My daughters enjoy playing along with this book, from pressing the buzzer to get into the waiting room (something they find intriguing, since our doctor's office is just open), to finding the heart piece to complete the puzzle to playing along with the examination itself. They've never been worried about going to the doctor or had any bad experiences there, so this book is just a fun way of play acting the experience.

As a mother of daughters, I like the fact that the doctor is female. I would have liked, however, had the book covered some things about going to the doctor that can be painful, such as getting shots. 3.5 stars.
