5.0 out of 5 stars A Get Fuzzy Reading Guide - Collections vs. Treasuries
I won't go into how fantastic this comic strip is, but it is easily my favorite comic strip of all time. :)

For the uninitiated, there are eight collections so far and three treasuries. The fourth treasury is not yet released.

Please keep in mind that each treasury is two collections put together, so as far as I know the treasuries are the same as...

1.0 out of 5 stars Rate this strip a zero.
As if there are not enough strips with animals, this one does not deserve the praise it gets. Look in the comics today, aren't most of them about animals? The gas I buy comes from Sinclair and they use a dinosaur for its logo, does that make the gas better? If I purchase food with an animal used for its logo does that make it better? This strip reads "Not Funny". Don't...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Get Fuzzy Reading Guide - Collections vs. Treasuries, June 27, 2005
This review is from: Say Cheesy: A Get Fuzzy Collection, Vol. 5 (Paperback)
I won't go into how fantastic this comic strip is, but it is easily my favorite comic strip of all time. :)

For the uninitiated, there are eight collections so far and three treasuries. The fourth treasury is not yet released.

Please keep in mind that each treasury is two collections put together, so as far as I know the treasuries are the same as two of the collections, except I believe the treasuries have the Sunday comics in color while the collections have them in black and white.

In chronological order, the collections are:

1. The Dog is Not a Toy: House Rule #4

2. Fuzzy Logic: Get Fuzzy 2

3. The Get Fuzzy Experience

4. Blueprint for Disaster

5. Say Cheesy: A Get Fuzzy Collection 5

6. Scrum Bums

7. I'm Ready for My Movie Contract: A Get Fuzzy Collection

8. Take Our Cat, Please: A Get Fuzzy Collection

The treasuries are:

1. Groovitude (encompassing collections 1 and 2).

2. Bucky Katt's Big Book of Fun (encompassing collections 3 and 4).

3. Loserpalooza (encompassing collections 5 and 6).

4. The Potpourrific Great Big Grab Bag of Get Fuzzy (encompassing collections 7 and 8). (not yet released - release date is currently 9/1/08)

I can say that these comics are beyond hilarious, and I would highly recommend them to pet lovers/haters of all ages. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars ..., May 21, 2005
This review is from: Say Cheesy: A Get Fuzzy Collection, Vol. 5 (Paperback)
Get Fuzzy is the only comic I make sure to buy every book of. In fact, it's the only comic strip I ever buy, period. The characters of the strip have become a kind of family for me.

Get Fuzzy books are always worth the money... this one is no exception. However, as it ranks with the other Get Fuzzy books, this one isn't quite as amazing. The laughs at the begining were close to non-existant, though once the book got in the swing of things it was great stuff. I laughed outrageously hard at a few of the strips (esp. Satchel's ode to cheese! amazing.)

This book should be purchased. If you don't own any Get Fuzzy books, though, start somewhere else. THEN pick this one up.

5.0 out of 5 stars You can food anything if you just eat it, September 14, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Say Cheesy: A Get Fuzzy Collection, Vol. 5 (Paperback)
I received this book in a package at camp, and i am sure that many people in my bunk will remember how I stayed up past midnight that night with a flashlight, laughing until I cried. This is saying something, because I never laugh unless it is really funny, eccentric, and just plain out-there. Get Fuzzy is all of the above. Most reviews of Get Fuzzy books, I have noticed, mention that they will appeal especially to animal lovers. While this is true, you don't need to own a cat to laugh at Bucky trying to film a "Cribs", in which he explains that his top drawer is where he keeps his pretty... excuse me, GANGSTA yarn. Satchel is also very funny, like in the series where he explains to Rob what varioous objects in the house are named (I especially liked "World B. Shiny", the TV's named.). Speaking of which, as the straight man, Rob isn't exactly dead weight. While providing an object for Bucky to annoy, he also puts his pets' strange comments in perspective, making them seem much more out-there and funny ("It's not exactly proper to make threats of murder and cannibalism in a thank you card, Bucky."). It's also worth noting that some of the strips, while not necessarily one-panels, have no pinchline, or the punchline isn't the funny part. Bucky's comments take care of that. Some laugh-out-loud strips and series are "You can wordify anything if you just verb it," "Chucky The Chimp," "Tickets to the zoo," "This ferret ate my baby"(a perfect example of the punchline not being the funny part. Bucky's picket sign is just too hilarious), "Can't we all just get a lawn", and pretty much anything that mentions Bucky's obsession with eating monkeys, especially the Anaheim Angels Rally Monkey. All in all, buy this book. You won't be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars How To Eat A Monkey With A Spork, June 13, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Say Cheesy: A Get Fuzzy Collection, Vol. 5 (Paperback)
Like all the other "Get Fuzzy" books, "Say Cheesy" is a winner. Animal lovers the world over understand the essential and hilarious truths that Darby Conley has hit on through caricature in this strip.

There are several themes to the strips in this book, of which the most prevalent and most amusing are Bucky's obsession with fighting Fungo the next-door ferret, and Bucky's other, even stranger, obsession with trying to eat a monkey (at one point he tries to get Rob to make him "Gibbon a L'Orange" for his birthday dinner.)

This is a great book that is guaranteed to make you laugh, especially if you are an animal lover like me.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Pray To Your Big, Filthy Monkey God Before I Food You", September 4, 2007
By
This review is from: Say Cheesy: A Get Fuzzy Collection, Vol. 5 (Paperback)
"Say Cheesy" is another explosively funny collection of "Get Fuzzy" strips by Darby Conley. My local newspaper only recently started carrying this strip so I'm catching up. But I think this is already a classic. Innocent, good-natured, stupid Satchel the dog, the insanely hostile and ugly cat Bucky (with his one enormous fang) and lonely-guy human Rob Wilco are hilarious and endearing characters. It was a simple stroke of genius to make all of the animals able to speak, and then carry on as if it were no big deal. It doesn't make them into just humans; they continue to be idiosyncratically animals, with outrageously funny and recognizable quirks. (Like the child-like scrawls that pass for animal handwriting.) It's the little details that kill you, like Satchel's ever-present wristwatch (when he can't tell time, he just thinks "it makes him look pretty".) My favorite sequence in this book is Bucky's obsession with eating a monkey, and his disastrous trip to the zoo when he tries to do just that (see above quote.) Just looking at the drawings makes me laugh like heck; Conley's clever dialog and plots add to the effect. Reading "Get Fuzzy" quickly becomes addictive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get Fuzzy is the cat's meow!, November 9, 2006

Darby Conley's offbeat humor in the "Get Fuzzy" strips is absolutely wonderful and very enertaining--sometimes it may be a bit harder to get the joke but overall, the strip more than makes up for an occasional "I don't get it". These collections are very well done, especially the bigger collections--I would recommend the books for just about anyone, but more specifically for readers 12 years and up.

I adore the get fuzzy series. It doesn't run in our local paper so I have to buy the collections. It's wonderful. I love the intelligence and interaction of the characters. I've even got my six-year-old son hooked.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dog and Cat Owners Prepare To HOWL!, March 13, 2006
This review is from: Say Cheesy: A Get Fuzzy Collection, Vol. 5 (Paperback)
Get Fuzzy is our favorite comic strip in our household. We have dogs and cats...one cat that has earned the new nickname of Bucky the Cat and one yellow Labrador who is definitely Satchel come to life! Non-pet owners will get a kick out of these great collections, but PET OWNERS, esp if you own a cat AND a dog, my best advice is Do Not Eat Or Drink While Reading...you'll ruin your Get Fuzzy Book for sure, or you may choke...either way no fun...otherwise ALL the Get Fuzzy Books are really fun...I've never laughed so hard in my life! If our cats and dogs COULD talk to us, I imagine it wouldn't be a lot different than the world created by the wonderful creator of the Get Fuzzy Comic Strips! GREAT PET OWNERS GIFT TOO!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars "Yet again, I find your desire to eat a monkey disturbing.", December 3, 2006
By
This review is from: Say Cheesy: A Get Fuzzy Collection, Vol. 5 (Paperback)
Rob, Bucky, and Satchel continue to entertain readers with their exploits.... well, mostly Bucky's.

In Say Cheesy, Bucky really does get a chance to eat a monkey, wrestle a chicken, and duel a ferret. Other animals appearing include a box turtle, a conger eel, a cow, and a great white shark (picture only).

And Bucky's thoughts on the meaning of life?

"Rather than love,

than money,

than fame,

Give me tuna."

Oh, and don't let Satchel lick the ice cube tray or talk about playing craps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much Better Than a Meat Pancake Thingy!!!, November 28, 2005
This review is from: Say Cheesy: A Get Fuzzy Collection, Vol. 5 (Paperback)
I love this book, and the Get Fuzzy comic in general. But I have to agree, its just not as funny and satisfying as the other ones. It could have been a bit funnier, and the book did have its really hilarious moments (Bucky getting a shirt for Satchel that shows a picture of a certain type of drug plant and the shirt beneathe it says "Legalize it") and it still remains interesting. I can't wait for the next books.
