On the down side, this CD IS another compilation, so we aren't seeing anything new from the Moodies, in spite of Justin stating in multiple places that the Moodies have been working on a new CD for more than a year, and planned to release it last fall. This CD is not the promised new CD.On the up side, this CD continues in the tradition of Elton John's "Love Songs" and Madonna's "Something to Remember" collections. Each are specialized collections of ballads. Similarly, The Moody Blues have had beautiful ballads over the years, and the majority of the best are collected on this CD. Admittedly, most of the songs are by Justin, but Ray Thomas' "For My Lady" and John Lodge's "Lean on Me" are representative of the others. Mike Pinder was best known for his new age flavored music, and gets no representation, and Graeme Edge's contributions were similarly overlooked. However, while Justin Hayward gets the majority of the credit here, it's because the love ballad was always Justin's forte. Long time Moodies fans will find little here to interest them. As noted above, this is a compilation. However, it is a focused compilation, and those of us that can't seem to get enough of the Moodies will likely buy this just to have a different combination of music. I just hope the new Moodies album arrives sooner rather than later. For those of you who love the softer side of the Moodies, this CD is perfect for you. For die hard Moodies fans, we have to take what we can get, though in this case it's not a strain to enjoy this CD. Let's hope this CD is the last of what seems like endless compilations from the Moodies.

Great Moody Blues "Love Songs!",

It's great to find that The Moody Blues now have a CD filled with love songs, and this is a nice variety. I enjoy every one of these tracks, and I like the order in which they appear. The sound quality is excellent on the entire CD, including the newly mastered versions of songs like "Had to Fall in Love," "Want to Be With You," and "Love Don't Come Easy." The single version of "Nights in White Satin" (Also featured on "The Best of The Moody Blues") is featured here, and it is a great way to start off the CD. "Haunted," from The Moody Blues' most recent studio album, "Strange Times," is the perfect tune to close out the CD, as well. I am also happy that there are no edited-down versions of any of the songs on this compilation (Most notably on the "Voices in the Sky" and "The Singles" CD's), so we get the full length versions of the tracks. This is a nice CD to relax to, as well. I give it an "A+!" :)

Odd Collection,
By Martin A Hogan "Marty From SF" (San Francisco, CA. (Hercules)) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (2008 HOLIDAY TEAM) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)

The Moody Blues keep pumping out greatest hits collections, instead of new albums. This is one odd collection. There are three songs from the early 1970's (only one was a hit). Five are from the 1980's (two were hits) and eight are from the 1990's (none were significant hits). This is a fantastic group and it's unclear why this collection exists. However, if you want to hear the Moody Blues of the last ten years, this is it. Either that or buy "Keys To The Kingdon" and "Strange Times".

Love Songs from the Moodies,
By A Customer

This is a excellent compilation of love songs from the legendary Moody Blues. It opens with their signature song, "Nights In White Satin," and includes hits such "Your Wildest Dreams," and "I Know You're Out There Somewhere" as well as classic songs such as "For My Lady" and "Lean On Me (Tonight)." But it's some of the other songs which I truly enjoy, such as the melodic "Foolish Love," "Bless the Wings (That Bring You Back)" and the title song. Yes, I have all of these wonderful tunes on other CDs, but it's nice to have them on one disc. It's a wonderful collection.

Pure Romance,
By Justunes Fan (Collegeville, PA United States) - See all my reviews

The Moody Blues have always been a band whose music surrounds its listeners with feeling. This compilation is no exception. Of course, it is just a sampling of the romantic melodies the band has given us. I'd recommend this CD, especially for anyone who isn't familiar with their music. It's a nice introduction to a wonderful band of musicians.

This is a great collection of the hits, and some of their lesser played work,[a shame indeed],put on one CD.This is a must for those who don't own a collection of The Moody Blues albums or cd's.There is some of their best work that you don't hear very often on this disc.I wish, though, that there was another disc with another 16 titles of this nature and sold as a 2 disc set.God knows that the material is there.Anyhow, this cd is well worth the price, and offers a quality listening experience.

A good collection of the Moody Blues' love songs and ballads. The music kind of spans their career with Night's in White Satin being the earliest piece of the group (and, almost a standard on any MB collection). The paired set of I Know You're Out There Somewhere and Wildest Dreams is here. Want To Be With You is a thoughtful piece and, to my mind, is kind of the MB take on what Pink Floyd talks about in One Slip. The set of New Horizons, For My Lady, and Nervous forms a moody group that I find to be more intimate. In My World is a sweet ballad. I find the title song, Say It With Love, to be too "disco-y". And, I think Haunted to be a bit light in quality. There's nothing really too heavy in the collection of 16 songs but the music is quite enjoyable. I wish they had included Forever Autumn (although not MB, it has been included in other MB collections).

A Valentine's Day Treat,
By Dawn Johnson (Windsor, VA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Say It With Love (Audio CD)
I don't think it was a coincidence that this compilation was released right in time for Valentine's Day. Most of the songs were composed by Justin Hayward, which suits me just fine. He has a way with a ballad that is very unique and romantic. The Moody Blues are due to have a new CD released in the next year. I, too, can hardly wait for some new songs, but this is a nice collection to hold me until then.

WELL WORTH THE LISTEN,
By TIM COLLETTE (CALGARY ALBERTA CANADA) - See all my reviews

THIS NEW CD IS A GREAT COLLECTION OF MOODY TUNES. FOR THE FIRST TIME IT COMBINES SOME OLD GREATS WITH SOME MUCH NEWER ONES, ALONG A COMMON THEME OF LOVE.FOR PEOPLE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE MOODIES THIS WILL BE A NICE INTRODUCTION OF GREAT SONGS.AS WITH OTHER GREATEST HITS MANY SONGS ARE LEFT OUT JUST FOR SPACE LIMITATIONS, HOWEVER THIS HAS NOT BEEN OVERLOOKED WITH THIS COMMON THEME CD. WHILE JUSTIN AND JOHN DOMINATE THE CD,THIS SEEMS HARDLY A SURPRISE AS THEY CERTAINLY WRITE MOST OF THEM.THERE IS HOWEVER SOME INPUT FROM RAY THOMAS AS THERE SHOULD BE.A NICE ADDITION TO ANYONES COLLECTION AND A GREAT CD TO CURL UP TO THE FIRE WITH .
