This is a delightful booklet by two authors who are obviously very enthousiastic, both linguistically and about their country and culture. Far more than just a list of "How do I order a mango drink in Maldivian", they intersperse tidbits about the language with advice on how to use them and with historical and cultural information. There is enough grammar here to allow you to understand what you are saying, but not so much you drown in it. The last 100 of the 350 pages contain a English-Maldivian word list of about 2200 words, which may actually be usable since Maldivian is a morphologically relatively simple language.
