4.0 out of 5 stars He's right up there......, June 2, 2004

I first heard L.D. back in the 70's,"Old Judge Jones" got some air play on Detroit's progressive FM stations, and I bought the vinyl, to my surprise the entire LP was very good (I don't throw the word great around too often). Les is very flavorful in his guitar phrasing, he can sing, play bass, and can write, ( he co-wrote "Jessica" with the Allmans). I played the "Say no more" CD a few days ago and I still "get off" on "One to Beam Up" and "Zorro Rides Again" two KICK-ASS instrumentals. Like other fans, I'm begging Sony to release ALL Les Dudek material (you guys will make your money back). I have every thing he's done on vinyl, including the "D.F.K. Band" , but the vinyl's wearing thin. If you like rock & roll guitar, well written songs, and very good productions, grab all the Les Dudek stuff you can find you won't be disappointed. Check out Les in the movie "Mask", with Cher and Sam Elliot, he played a biker named "Bone"

5.0 out of 5 stars Say No More, August 24, 2000

It's been awhile since someone commented on Les, so I'm throwing my hat in the ring. Definitely one of the all time best guitar players...bar none! I have to agree with the rest of the reviews. From his 1st self titled Les Dudek album right up till Deeper Shades, he's given' us listeners nothing but pure enjoyment. It's time for SONY to wake up and release everything of Les's either in a box set or in the current trend of todays affordable 2 on 1 discs. We need "Les Dudek", Ghost Town Parade", DFK (Dudek, Finnegan & Krueger Band and "Gypsy Ride". This is a correction to the previous reviewers who referred to the title as Deja Vu. Sony's held these captive long enough. It's time to release Les' great music for all to enjoy. Our LP's can only last so long!

5.0 out of 5 stars Possibly my most frequently played CD - really!, February 1, 2002

Other reviewers have done a great job lauding Les's amazing guitar and promoting his other albumns, so I'll just say a few words about the backup band on Say No More. They are fantastic! I'm listening to the CD again as I type and really getting into the bass lines - beautifully complex but never intrusive. Solid drumming and cool backup vocals from the ladies (gotta love the intro to Baby Sweet Baby). But my favorite is the jazzy piano - the piano licks rival Les's guitar. Hit me, Alan!

My younger brother wore the grooves out of this when it came out. I bought him another copy for his birthday and one for myself. If you like The Allman Brothers (I believe Les played on Rambling Man) you need to get this cd! I agree with the other reviewers that it is past time for someone to get all of his music out. This is one cd you will come back to time and again, especially if you want to hear some guitar licks that are informed by the blues.

5.0 out of 5 stars Les is one of the best on a LesPaul, February 5, 2003

Great guitarist. I have two of his albums since the mid 70's and when I played them in our dorm outdoor quad at University to most people for the first time.... the tunes were turned up loud. The frisbes were flying and both "City Magic" and "old Judge Jones" were HUGE hits.... now we are all in our 40's... but both my daughters love my old music...
PLEASE RELEASE all of Les' music on CD.... how about a greatest hits... many will buy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Say No More - Les Dudek, July 10, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Say No More (Audio CD)
I've been acquainted with the music of Les Dudek since 1976 and all I can say is "totally awesome". If you haven't heard of him, then you've not been listening. He's played with many of the great ones like "The Allman Brothers Band" and "Boz Skaggs", and his solo releases represent a fine collection of timeless tunes worthy of "cover bands" and "air guitarists" everywhere. Simply brilliant. To echo the words of others, I agree that "Les Dudek", "Ghost Town Parade" and "Gypsy Ride" need to be forthcoming on CD, as they are far superior to "Say No More" and "Deeper Shades of Blues", which have been out for some time. On the rating scale, I'd have to say that "Les Dudek" and "Ghost Town Parade" rank "5+ stars", followed by "Gypsy Ride" at "5 stars", with "Say No More" at "4+ stars", and finally "Deeper Shades Of Blues" at "4 stars". All in all, Les Dudek represents some of the finest American rock-blues-fusion jams ever recorded. So tune in your ears for a real good time and get "Dudeked"!

5.0 out of 5 stars More cd's of Dudek long overdue!, January 5, 2001

I am happy to have this album and Dudek's debut on cd and I think both are great. My favorite album of his is Ghost Town Parade though with the awesome track Central Park. Hopefully this will get a proper cd release in 2001 as I have worn out two vinyl copies of that album. Anyone interested in great guitar playing and some classic rock tracks should get this as a good introduction to the mans's genius. If we should see a new studio-album of Dudek I hope it is in the funky style of this album and GTP and not the bluesy type material he has done the last couple of years. Show us you still have it in you, Les.

4.0 out of 5 stars Say no more has great moments that define dudek, June 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Say No More (Audio CD)
This is dudek's second album. This has a strong Bozz Scagg's feel, understandable because Dudek played with Scaggs who produced his first album, Les Dudek. "What's it gonna be" is the song that defines Dudek's style and tempo, fun song, good riffs and infectious bridge and ending, (thanks Reymondo!). Band is some members of what became Toto along with great session players. Old Judge Jones was the hit for its guitar work. Try the Les Dudek album for great guitar (City Magic is guitar heaven and Each Morning is what Allman Bros. Dreams should have been; Ghost Town Parade has great songs, DFK (Dudek, Finnegan, Kruger) should have been a super group (members of Dave Mason's band), Deja Vu has some very good songs as does more recent Deeper Shades of Blues. History: played with Allman Bros. on Ramblin Man and Jessica to fill in uncompleted work from Duane's death, Played with Scaggs, Steve Miller (Fly Like an Eagle), Cher (Black Rose -- some good songs) and "Sister Honey" for Stevie Nicks. We are waiting for more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dudek- The Silent Perfectionist, March 26, 2003
By
This review is from: Say No More (Audio CD)
Greetings-
As some of the afore mentioned revues have said, this is long over due. Les Dudek showed the American rock listening crowd that funky, bluesy straight-ahead rock-n-roll with a southern twist could help your Friday night get out and party mode.
A very under-rated artist with 4 lps under his belt,Les Dudek can definetly work his music into you and back out and leave you wondering " WOW!! did I just hear what I thought I heard ?. So you 70's compiling record CEO's quit wondering if it's going to sell or not. Just Do It.
Every musical artist deserves a second heyday in their career. Like us consumers say every now and then,"What ever happened to so and so? Who da man? DUDEK be the MAN. Buy "Say No More". It's all that's out there right now, but very much worth it.
Take care,
Big Behr

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Unknown Guitarist In The World, February 13, 2002
By
This review is from: Say No More (Audio CD)
If this guy isn't the best guitarist in the world, I don't know who is. This album is his most popular, but there are a few out there that are not on CD yet - what's the deal? Doesn't anyone know about this guy exists? Sony - smarten up! I do have his first (as an import), this one, and Deeper Shades of Blues, which was done in 1994. Need to see Ghost Town Parade, DFK Band, Gypsy Ride
