5.0 out of 5 stars AMEN! - Author of "BrainChild: Visions of a Blind Poet"
My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Anderson at one of her book signings. As she revealed to me what her book was about, I knew that I had to buy it, and read it as soon as possible. I am definitely glad that I did.

"I Say a Prayer For Me" is not just about a woman who had a heroin addiction and was able to overcome it. It goes much deeper than that...

It goes much deeper than that. It is about Ms. Anderson's realization that our lives are not our own to do with as we please. Rather, she learned to know and to trust God, and how to allow him to direct her steps throughout her life jouney. She was able to do this despite outside distractions, her own feelings of unworthiness, and while fighting off her own shortcomings and weaknesses. She helps us to understand that in all of our lives, we will face many different types of challenges. We may have our own types of addictions to deal with(ANYTHING that detracts from and interferes with our spiritual growth or well being). She shows us by her example how we too can unburden ourselves on God and seek his wisdom and guidance.

She also tells us that we should not hesitate to enlist the help of others when we need it, and not to miss the opportunity to help others if we see that they need help.

"I Say a Prayer For Me" is a very good book that contains very powerful messages. I am glad that I was deemed worthy to have the opportunity to meet Ms. Anderson, and to have the chance to buy a copy of this book to share with others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspired Words, December 31, 2002

This review is from: I Say a Prayer for Me: One Woman's Life of Faith and Triumph (Hardcover)
I Say a Prayer for Me is part autobiographical, part self help, and one hundred percent inspirational. Stanice Anderson has shared more than just her life story, but also her personal testimony. She shared her experiences with drug addiction and the lifestyle that goes along with it, as well as her strained relationship with her parents and child. The story chronicles her spiritual journey from addict to the strong Christian that she is today. The book goes far beyond the mere description of events by delving into the emotions related to the decisions she made. Each chapter of the book covers an important emotional lesson, Anderson uses her own life to illustrate a problem and then uses Biblical text to shed light on the lesson she learned. The chapters conclude with a scripture reading and a prayer.

I highly recommend this book because of the variety of subject matter it covers including, relationships with God, parents, children, friends, spouses, and coworkers. Indeed, it has something for everyone. While the format of the book was confusing at times because the experiences were not always presented chronologically, it was still a pleasure to read. Stanice Anderson has truly been blessed and her candor and willingness to share her testimony will be an inspiration for anyone who reads this book.

Not only was this book written as a testimony to show how GOD navigates our lives to help us know that we are loved it also shows that with faith all things are possible. This book is not only for those with drug or alcohol addictions but it is for those of us who suffer addictions of all kinds, it is for those of us who don't believe in ourselves, for those who have experienced hurt and also dished hurt out towards others. The lord spoke to me personally thru his vessel Stanice. Thank you for allowing your loving and gentle kindness to flow from this wonderful women who has allowed you to use her. I am and will always be in loving awe of your unconditional love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Author Offers A Review, December 27, 2002

This review is from: I Say a Prayer for Me: One Woman's Life of Faith and Triumph (Hardcover)
I was fortunate enough to know Stanice before she wrote this book, when she sent out amazing weekly e-mails about her life. Each e-mail included a prayer and a Bible verse. I, along with many others, looked forward to receiving them. It was no surprise to me that she would write such an inspirational and powerful book. We have lived similar lives but Stanice has a unique framework in which she offers the reader her story of triumph over drugs and low self-esteem. This book will enrich your life, regardless of what your own personal challenge may be--Patrice Gaines, author "Laughing In The Dark"

This book is a wonderful, uplifting story. A inspiring and informative read for anyone seeking to live their life for God, or be uplifted by a true story of triumph. Each chapter ends with a prayer and a scripture from the Bible. I was captivated by Stancie's ability to tell her story in a heartfelt, comfortable manner. I feel as though I personally know her after reading this book, and I am blessed to have had the experience!

5.0 out of 5 stars You can relate to this book..., November 22, 2002
This review is from: I Say a Prayer for Me: One Woman's Life of Faith and Triumph (Hardcover)
I loved it!! It is impossible to read this book and not feel a sense of restored and renewed FAITH. It reads like a novel, a mystery, and a journal/diary all at the same time making it a definite page turner and hard to put down. Most, if not all can relate to facing difficulties/obstacles which may have seemed impossible to overcome at the time but this book offers reassurance that we/you are not alone as well as encouragement and prayer. One woman's courageous sharing of that which has brought her to present day succeeds in telling a story that is soooooo relatable, it will oftentimes feel like your own. Although addiction is part of the story, it is not the whole of this woman's life experience and there is something in this book for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars behold the power of faith, November 24, 2002
This review is from: I Say a Prayer for Me: One Woman's Life of Faith and Triumph (Hardcover)
I Say A Prayer for Me is a beautiful book about a horrible subject. Staniece Anderson went from middle class college girl to a hard core, junkie and not only lived to tell the tale but found God and sobriety.

The chapters on her rape at 14, the terrible abuse she recieved at home and her distant, almost absent father show that drugs were not her only problem. Today Ms. Anderson has been drug free for 17 years. She's a writer of unusal talent and grace and has completely turned her life around by Faith.

The word "inspirational" is overused but that's exactly what this beautiful book is. Whether your life is as bad as Ms. Anderson's was or if it's mired in a different kind of misery this book will change the way you see things and if you pay attention to what it says, it will inspire you to change your life. Five stars is not enough. Staniece Anderson has written a ten star book, at the very least.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just AWESOME!, October 10, 2005
Whew, what can one say after reading this book!?! To read this woman's stories of what she experienced and to see her now; only God can create such a transformation in one's life. I laughed and I cried as I read through the chapters. Some reminded me of my own experiences. This is a MUST read! If you are in need of any type of healing, it will definitely take place in the pages of this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book was an inspiration, June 17, 2004
This review is from: I Say a Prayer for Me: One Woman's Life of Faith and Triumph (Hardcover)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Her life is an inspiration. She taught me to consider God in all things no matter how small I may think it is. Her story of her California trip was great and really taught me to witness to anyone and everyone. This was my selection for my bookclub and I was the toast of the day. We all enjoyed this one.
