5.0 out of 5 stars Great song :->, August 1, 2006

This review is from: Say Somethin (Audio CD)
This is the best faster tempo song from Emancipation of Mimi. It's fun and dancy and has a contagiousness about it. I can't get it out of my head. She doesn't go overboard with her vocals; she's just the right amount of soft singing and strength when needed. She always collaborates well, and there are some good remixes here. I don't know whether this will make it to No:1, but it will be a top ten for sure. I love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars hot remixes, July 31, 2006
By
This review is from: Say Somethin (Audio CD)
I don't really care for the album version unless u're a true Mariah Carey fan or love R&B Hip Hop. What i really like on this single is the stereo anthem mix and the stereo anthem dub. The stereo anthem mix is a dance diva house mix clocking over 9min 30sec. Mariah resong her vocals to cater to this dance mix. The Stereo Anthem dub mix is also over 9min 30sec. but doesn't have hardly any of her vocals but her high pitched vocals is in the background. The dub mix doesn't sound like the anthem mix at all. The dub mix is a freakin' hot remix with an edgy circuit house bassy mix that will sure be played at all straight, gay, and rave clubs everywhere. DJ's will definitely play this during peak hour and definitely during after hours clubs. Ladies and soldiers let's dance. Get ya groove on.

4.0 out of 5 stars Say Somethin' Good To Mariah!, June 14, 2006
This review is from: Say Somethin (Audio CD)
Fifth single off The Emancipation Of Mimi. Though fasns knew the existence of David Morales remixes so long ago we never heard of them since a little time ago where they were introduced on dance marked (radios, clubs). The original Say Somethin' is a fun R&B sequencial beat up song that has a featuring role with Pharrel Williams on backup and Snoop as rapper on his D.o.G.G.I.E style while the dance track is an opposite to the original a more dance track, with new Mariah vocals and a very refreshing beat tone that makes you dance. The single is worth it totally and if you want some more, there is a very odd remix made by Jermaine Dupree (can we say It's Like that or We Belong Together) featuring Dem Franchize s beat the tune now and say something good to me baby! Just kiddin'

5.0 out of 5 stars Another blockbuster Mariah 12" club mix, October 6, 2006

Darmez (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Say Somethin (Audio CD)
Like with most things in life, 12" remixes of singles from original cds are a hit or miss affair. And Mariah's 12" mixes are no different. Some are the absolute bomb (Dreamlover's remixes, Honey's Classic Mix or Its Like That Dave Moreles Classic Mix) and some leave you wondering "why bother?" I'm also partial to the housey/clubby dance remixes rather than the rapper-flooded yawn mixes. THIS remix of Say Somethin is definitely a hit, coming from a house dj perspective. Like another reviewer said, the Anthem Mix is contagious. I keep listening to it over and over, when travelling, at work, at home, everywhere. From the beginning to end, its an odyssey of sounds and beats and effects. Her vocals have been rerecorded for this and she sounds SO sexy. The synth strings are an especially nice accompaniment and, to me, give the mix emotion or feeling. I grew up listening to Donna Summer's great extended arrangements in the 70s and this puts me in the mind of those. And if you listen to the words, even more emotion is added making this a great track mix all around. The dub is cool too but its definitely the Anthem Mix that sells me on this remix cd single. If you're a club or house music lover, BUY THIS!

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT, May 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Say Somethin (Audio CD)
Love Mariah's club mixes and nowadays it's getting harder and harder to find CD versions of her singles. So glad Amazon still carries some. Mariah's voice still shows she's the star of the club! And congrats to her and her babies!

5.0 out of 5 stars Morales pays homage to his past work instead of duplicating it..., August 8, 2007
This review is from: Say Somethin (Audio CD)
Sure it sounds a little dated, but this is just about the best mix Morales has done for Mariah in years. After boring us with the remixes of It's Like That, and then having Peter Rauhofer step in and blow us away with the Reconstruction Mix of We Belong Together, I was concerned about the return of Morales. But, despite his use of the same old rhythm track, this mix definitely flows. It's no peak hour anthem, but it will fit in snuggly with a fierce diva set. There even seems to be an homage to Morales's remix of Toni Braxton's "You're Making Me High." Where Toni and her background singers sang the scale climbing, "Baby, baby, baby, BABY!", Mariah and her background singers (who are probably the same session singers), sing the same exact scale with the words "Say it, say it, say it, SAY IT!" Cool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Match made on Earth, October 9, 2006
This review is from: Say Somethin (Audio CD)
By far the best remix released off "The Emancipation of Mimi" CD. Morales remix reminds us of the wonderful collaboration between Mariah and David. As always Mariah re-sings and adds additional vocals specifically for this remix. Over 9mins of bliss.
