Conversations with ghosts,
By
This review is from: Say Something (Audio CD)
Ellis Paul's first CD, produced by Bill Morrisey under the proviso that Ellis would produce an up and coming artist later in his career (which he did with Rob Laurens). The first track (Converstaion with a ghost) is a killer and somewhat sets the tone of the album: somewhat plaintive (Except for "Just the jester fool---which is very upbeat). I believe this first song was inspired by a woman who died of cancer, who had given Ellis his first guitar (I could be wrong). The songs are very diverse in terms of their lyrical content. Reminds one of "short cuts" by Raymond Carver---each song a little 3/4 minute play.
