2.0 out of 5 stars The book starts off pretty well,
but it doesn't take very long to realize you're reading not just a fairy tale, but a hard-to-believe-at-any-level fairy tale. The characters are just too extreme, and seem to change their minds, positions and attitudes every six seconds, but in a completely predictable and noninteresting way. First off, in any normal situation, Serena would've found herself facing assault...

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting relationship drama, February 7, 2002
This review is from: Say You Need Me (Mass Market Paperback)
While dining with her younger sister in Miami Beach, librarian Serena Childs sees her former boyfriend Cecil Montford leisurely eating in the same establishment. Serena is very upset to see the lowlife who left town with her savings and a family heirloom necklace. Serena walks up to Cecil, slaps him in the face while yelling at him. She regally leaves before Cecil can say anything.

Wondering what crap Cecil caused this time, his identical twin brother Darrell is cleaning up the mess, as he wearily always does. Thinking he is Cecil, Serena gets a cop who through a series of events arrests Darrell for assaulting a police officer. The next morning with his identity cleared up, Darrell is released. Serena realizes that the Orlando bed and breakfast owner is her only hope to regain her ancestor's necklace. As he tries to flee from the dingbat and she tries to cling to her only "clue", they fall in love, but Cecil remains an obstacle between Serena and Darrell.

Though the use of a mistaken identity twin has become somewhat trite, Kayla Perrin invigorates the concept in SAY YOU NEED ME through the interactions of her wonderful lead characters. Darrell is a compassionate role model and Serena is a bewitching ball of energy. Though his leaving the wallet in the restaurant seems unnecessary, fans of a dynamic relationship romp filled with humor yet with a serious tough love perspective will say they need to read Ms. Perrin's warm romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Twin Love, March 5, 2002
This review is from: Say You Need Me (Mass Market Paperback)
Kayla Perrin's latest book has everything thst makes up a true romance. Serena Childs can not believe that the man who stole her family heirloom and money is flirting with her while dining with her sister. She is so upset that she does something that is so out of character to her. After a bit of confusion Serena realizes that this is not who she thought it was but his identical twin.

Darrell Montford knew that his brother was in some kind of trouble that is why he came to Miami. All while they were growing up Darrell had to cover Cecil's back.

Mrs. Perrin did a wonderful job in this book. The relationship between Darrell and Serena was like a blossoming flower. They both were trying to fight their attraction for one another, but love won. Despite all the things that Cecil did Darrell stuck by his side. And the strong bond between both sets of siblings was beautiful.

There was also the story of Serena's sister Kiana and policeman boyfriend Geoff. Their story did not hender the main story but also had you trying to figure out if they would trust their love and not worry about tomorrow and live for today.

Both stories within this one book were well written and will have you not wanting to put it down until you are finish. You will laugh, cry and smile when you are finish.

This review is from: Say You Need Me (Mass Market Paperback)
I loved this book because the characters seemed like people that I know. I felt at home reading about Serena and her sister and Kayla Perrin has a fresh original writing style that I enjoyed. A good book to curl up with after a long day. If you enjoy a hint of mystery in your romance, I think you will appreciate this writer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another good book, March 27, 2002
This review is from: Say You Need Me (Mass Market Paperback)
Ms.Perrin doesn't disappoints us with this novel. Here you have this young sister librarian who gets taken to the cleaners by this smooth operator. Then she goes to this restaurant and sees him and goes off on the brother. Or is he? I kind of felt sorry for the brother in this book because of mistaken identity, he gets the raw end of the stick. Yet, despite of it he finds true love after least expecting it.

but it doesn't take very long to realize you're reading not just a fairy tale, but a hard-to-believe-at-any-level fairy tale. The characters are just too extreme, and seem to change their minds, positions and attitudes every six seconds, but in a completely predictable and noninteresting way. First off, in any normal situation, Serena would've found herself facing assault charges. Second, the whole romance thing is just too pat; it happens in seconds, but then you're asked to jump from one side to the other with the characters, and keep the whole thing in perspective. Serena's reasoning is just too flawed, and anyone who's ever read a novel before can see what's coming 400 miles ahead. I can definitely beleve Kayla Perrin has written so many novels; much like Barbara Cartland did, she cranks them out like link sausages, with little regard to plot, believeability, or, for that matter, good writing.
