5.0 out of 5 stars The Author - Writer of the Month, February 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Thus Sayeth Gurbani (Hardcover)
Fiction & Poetry Society This month, Meet our writers travel to Toronto to meet us with one of our proudest member of the society, Pritpal Singh Bindra. What made him such a distinctive role model that young writers are encourage to learn from, let's meet our writer...

I was scratching my head, wondering who should the writer of the month. Looking through the list, I found no one more suitable than Pritpal Singh Bindra. A new member in the society, Pritpal has already lend a hand and published one of his most influential pieces to us. The Flute, the title to his short story mesmerizes life about understanding and true feelings, where it projects a scene of a couple, willing to tolerate and share for love. Pritpal may be our oldest member in the society, born in September 11, 1929, he's now a retired teacher who formally became a High School teacher in India from 1953- 1960, then a Secondary school teacher in London for 2 years which later changed his job and settle as a Insurance broker. After retiring in 1985, he migrated to Canada and peacefully participated in many activities and wrote many of his works since then.

"O Nanak, meeting the True Guru, one comes to know the Perfect Way, while laughing, playing, dressing and eating, one is liberated." Holy Sikh Scripture

Till today, he published more than hundred over articles and stories to various magazine and periodicals such as India Journal Toronto, Indo-Canadian Voice Toronto, Weekly World Sikh News Stockton, Weekly Spokesman Chandigarh India, Sikh Review Calcutta India etc.

In 1997, he manage to published his first collection of short stories entitled MUKLAWA & OTHERSTORIES in Nov. 1997. And thus, the following year, lime light shone upon him as he won the prestigious Akali Phoola Singh Book Award for the year 1998 for the reference book THUS SAYETH GURBANI presented by Academy of Sikh Religion and Culture, Patiala, India.

He work range from Short Fictions, Research and Papers on Sikh Religion Articles on Socio-political themes about India and Indians in the West. He does not aspire for personal gains but wish to contribute towards globalization of world as one. Maybe, that's what made him one of the most honoured member of the society.

Dedication from Pritpal: To my wife, Surjit, without whose physical and moral support I could have not ventured into writing.
