A great book for all women considering adoption,
By A Customer
This review is from: Saying Goodbye to a Baby: The Birthparent's Guide to Loss & Grief in Adoption (Saying Goodbye to a Baby Vol. 1) (Paperback)
I am planning on placing my baby for adoption and I have found this book very helpful in knowing what is to come, in terms of the grief I will be experiencing after the baby's placement. It is quite thorough and and covers many aspects of adoption from a birthmother's point of view, from making the decision, to the baby's birth, to dealing with feelings after placement. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is considering adoption for their baby.

This book was such an eye opener for me. I realized that so much of what I went thru after I gave my son up for adoption was completely normal. My thanks and appreciation to Patricia Roles for sharing her experience and wisdom in this book.

This Book is Complete Nonsense,

This review is from: Saying Goodbye to a Baby: The Birthparent's Guide to Loss & Grief in Adoption (Saying Goodbye to a Baby Vol. 1) (Paperback)
It is out of date, offensive and so off base that it is doing a huge disservice to new firstparents. It needs updated. It needs to use better language. And it needs to tell firstparents that their grief doesn't magically dissipate at any set date. The longing and pain can last a lifetime. And, frankly, that's normal, not abnormal. Let's be honest with firstparents. Otherwise we're setting them up for emotional failure.

You never get over the adoption and loss of your baby,
By
This review is from: Saying Goodbye to a Baby: The Birthparent's Guide to Loss & Grief in Adoption (Saying Goodbye to a Baby Vol. 1) (Paperback)
A mother who surrenders her baby for adoption NEVER gets over the loss. In fact the pain gets worse with time and expecially after reunion. Mothers experience Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Disenfranchised Grief and the children suffer from Attachment Disorders. Adoption is a 5 bil unregulated industry in the US with the babies being the commodities and the mothers being exploited for their babies. Adoption is NOT a "loving option" keeping your baby is. 80% of open adoptions close after 3 months of the adoption finalizing. Do not let anyone convince, coerce or brainwash you into signing those papers you will regret it for the rest of your life.

Not impressed.,

This is not a book that I would recommend. While it may have one or two good points, it has an overall negative tone that radiates off of each page. The title is wonderful and it is too bad that it is used on this book. I was expecting more from a book with this title.
