Book Description

July 28, 2008
In this thoughtful book, Allen and Linda Anderson walk you through the numbing pain and dreadful sense of loss that arise when a beloved animal dies. They offer solace to help you deal with grief, remember and honor key moments in the animal’s life, find comfort through groups and with professionals, and get past the depression. They also include exercises, affirmations, and meditations to use through the various stages of grief. The Andersons’ caring, practical advice covers all aspects of pet loss, offering guidance on:

helping children grieve :: honoring your religious beliefs :: grieving for runaway pets :: helping others know what to say or do to console you :: planning an appropriate memorial ceremony or tribute

The book also explores the concept of after-death experiences of departed companion animals and relates many beautiful stories, including the Rainbow Bridge story, that reinforce the love and sense of peace that come from honoring the place animals hold in our lives.

Dr. Marty Becker, resident veterinarian on ABC’s Good Morning America

“Allen and Linda Anderson’s book gives us permission to acknowledge the intense bond we have with our animal companions and the deep loss we can experience after their deaths. It provides helpful stories, exercises, and memorial services respecting a variety of beliefs. Infused with kindness, their work offers us help, hope, and a rainbow during the storm. I have learned from it and will celebrate and share it.”
— The Reverend Mary Piper, Episcopal priest and chaplain, cofounder of the pet loss support program at Heart of the Valley Humane Society in Bozeman, Montana

“This masterful and beautiful book is rich with wisdom, inspiration, and sound advice....With sensitivity and compassion as well as practical information, the Andersons gently and deftly guide us through the complex labyrinth of emotions associated with grief. 5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, and comforting book, March 1, 2011
This review is from: Saying Goodbye to Your Angel Animals: Finding Comfort after Losing Your Pet (Paperback)
I recently lost my beloved dog of 15 years. I was heartbroken. I decided to seek some help and found this book. It truly is comforting. The way it is written and the references are excellent. I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who has lost a dear pet. My heart goes out to you, as I know exactly what you are going thru. Only pet owners who love their pets as family know what I am talking about.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Effective Book for Dealing with the Loss of Your Pet, February 13, 2009

This review is from: Saying Goodbye to Your Angel Animals: Finding Comfort after Losing Your Pet (Paperback)
Allen and Linda Anderson never fail to deliver a wonderfully well-written book. This book is no exception. It contains a lot of useful information about dealing with the sadness and grief that anyone inevitably feels upon the loss of a pet. I think the best part of the book is that it offers many different ways to honor your pet's memory and celebrate the life of your beloved pet regardless of your religious or spiritual preferences.

This review is from: Saying Goodbye to Your Angel Animals: Finding Comfort after Losing Your Pet (Paperback)
In June we lost our dog Brownie to cancer. I was having a difficult time dealing with my grief, so I decidied to buy this book after looking into it and a few others. It was extremely helpful. There were inspirational stories, ways to deal with your grief, and meditations that help you to mourn and honor the life of your precious animal friend(s). I liked this book because it not only had great stories and advice, it also had a great reference section in case you wanted to work outside of the book.
The book is very sensitive to the pet owner's needs, no matter how your pet left you. I recommend this book to anyone dealing with the loss of a pet. I also went to the book's website and signed the guestbook, the next day I received a personal e-mail from the authors. They are very thoughtful people.
