Book Description

September 17, 2003
Saying "No" to the War Party is a historical record. It documents the opposition, in the U.S., towards Iraq War No. 2. It takes the reader on a journey to anti-War rallies, from Washington D.C. to New York City.William Hughes goes for the jugular by attacking the War Hawks. No one is safe from his avenging pen, including Israeli Firsters, Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (D-CT) and Rep. Tom DeLay (R-TX); Pentagon lackey, George F. Will; and media mogul, Mortimer B. Zuckerman.Along the way, Hughes stands up for France, American workers, the Catholic laity, and the Palestinian people, who have been suffering under the yoke of Israeli occupation for over 35 years. The War Party's policies are bankrupting the nation and making America more enemies in the Islamic World. This book details a struggle that will eventually decide the fate of the American Republic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hughes is Waiving a "Red Flag" warning America!, January 13, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Saying "No" to the War Party: A Collection of Essays and Photos in Opposition to Iraq War No. 2 (Paperback)
Of all the essays in this book, I think the one entitled, "War Is Theft," sort of sums up everything up that the author has to say, and in a cogent way, too. In talking of the Iraq War, (which was starting that very day, March 20, 2003), the author asked, "Who's going to pay for this immoral, obscenely expensive, clearly unjustified war with Iraq? Answer: The American taxpayers, that's who!" There are other essays by Hughes that are just as compelling, whether they are about the War Hawks, the fading national economy, the union-bashing "free trade" policy, the demise of our Steel Industry, or those scheming Neocons. Hughes is right on target. As a citizen of this once-great Republic, which is headed for a train wreck, I think Hughes is out their waving a "Red Flag," to warn us there is trouble down the road. People better wake up. I suggest they start by reading this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for everyone!, January 1, 2004

This review is from: Saying "No" to the War Party: A Collection of Essays and Photos in Opposition to Iraq War No. 2 (Paperback)
This book is a must-read for anyone who cares about where America is headed. Today, we're doing Global Cop in Iraq. If the hawkish Neocons, like Richard Perle, get their way: Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia, could be next on our invasion target list. Hughes has done a solid job documenting how we got into the Iraq quagmire and how complicit the Mass Media has been, acting like a lapdog for the administration of George W. Bush, Jr. I also like the photos of the Anti-war rallies, especially the demonstrations that were held in Washington, DC and NYC.

4.0 out of 5 stars Intelligent and courageous, January 16, 2004

This review is from: Saying "No" to the War Party: A Collection of Essays and Photos in Opposition to Iraq War No. 2 (Paperback)
In his book, "Saying 'No' to the War Party," William Hughes intelligently and courageously covers many important topics, bringing to bear on many of them his extensive law experience. The voice of the people is so often ignored, as the mass media cozy up to the bottom line of profit-making. Mr. Hughes shows no such restraint, and his writing is refreshingly honest.
