This book is great. It's fun to read and informative. I know the author and think she did a great job on this subject while making her experiences fun to witness.

Challenging and Relevant,
By
This review is from: Saying Yes: Accepting God's Amazing Invitation to Artists and the Church (Paperback)
Cindy West has written a gem.
In the middle ages and renaissance, Christianity was both the purpose and inspiration for all art - both musical and graphic. God is relevant to art today, and art is certainly relevant to God. "Saying Yes" is an inspirational challenge to make that connection, to bring the artist into the church and the church - and it's true purpose in God - into artists. Ms. West uses a combination of wisdom and personal anecdotes (which make for some great reading!) to point out how churches would be better if they encouraged and used their artists, and how artists can be better if they are allowed to express themselves for God's glory. I'm very concerned, unfortunately, that the audience who most need to read this book - Christian artists (music, graphic, others) working outside the church, and churches who could benefit greatly from the artists in their congregations - won't discover this challenge. I've bought a few copies of this excellent treatise for fellow musicians who need a challenge.

Encouragement for Artists,
This review is from: Saying Yes: Accepting God's Amazing Invitation to Artists and the Church (Paperback)
The first time I met Cindy West, she encouraged me as an artist. Writers are too aren't they?
This book is written for and about artists and their walk with their Creator. Full of inspiration it will make you laugh, cry, fall on your knees in prayer and finally praises to the one who made artists with all their wonderful ideas. That includes all mediums of art and creativity. Cindy's personal story encourages us all who stumble and fall to press on in the mark of high calling. Not only does she share her heart but shares how to help others move forward. I have had the privilege of knowing Cindy and being taught under her humble spirit as she seeks God first for answers to Worship. I liked the first third or half of this book quite a bit. However, then West started talking (presumably to pastors/church staff) how to include arts in the church. I suppose I didn't understand that that's where this book was going when I started, so it was a bit of a disappointment. However, I think that it would be a very valuable read for anyone who is thinking about starting an arts ministry/program in their church.
