Don Day Don is a really great album. The funk influence, combined with samba rhythms and sound, add up to one hell of an experience. It's impossible not to feel this down to your shoes.
I first heard about this album on NPR's Weekend Edition, and I was immediately impressed. This is well worth the purchase.

Leave it to David Byrne's Luaka Bop records to expand my musical horizons again. This record may be the best single artist release (some compliations are just incredible) ever on the label, and ranks right up there with some of the all time great Brazilian releases by the masters. Not only is there not a bad track on it, some (Resgate, Soul Do Samba & Preta Luxo) might be considered Samba classics. Highly recommended.
