Raoul Bova plays the TV journalist / parent Matteo Gatti of a teenage son who has lost his son through drugs. Rome based Gatti decides to head north to Milan where his son died in his quest for answers and someone to blame for the loss of his son. He teams up with the Milan Narcotics Squad and is undercover observing the police operations and soon sees how drugs ae a part of many people's lives in Milan from all different backgrounds and social classes.
Gatti has left his very pregnant wife in Rome alone and communication has broken down between the two. Will Gatti find any answers in Milan?
Bova plays the role of Gatti pretty well. One thing I did not like about the film is that a fairly large amount of scenes in the film are shown through the angle of Gatti's cameraman and are fairly low quality.
The story is good on the whole, if not fairly repetetive at times. The ending...well, it's OK.
Produced in 2008 and screened in Italy in 2009, Sbirri has certainly made me want to see more of Raoul Bova's work.
