I had an old scalpmaster that I loved but it was an older model they don't make any more. I bought this brush to replace it with but this brush causes a lot of static build up. I don't use this brush at all anymore and would not recommend this brush to my friends.

It's a great hairbrush for someone with medium length thin hair.. My hair is WAY too short (pixie cut) for this brush. The bristles are too close together and too soft and short to get UNDER the hair to brush and dry.
It's nicely constructed. I am very disappointed that I can't use it.

I've been wanting to try a boar bristle brush and decided on this one. I think it is a good quality brush. Handle is comfortable to use. There is some bristle loss when using but very little. The bristles are very close together and are a little more than soft but not quite medium stiffness. I have medium length hair that is fine and curly. The brush doesn' t do a real good job getting through my curls but I don't think any boar bristle brush will. I think it would work best for short/medium hair that isn't too thick or too long. It was well priced and I'm glad I tried it. I do use it on occasion, after another brush gets through my curls and tangles.

I have used the Scalpmaster 800 for 50+ years! They quit making it and replaced it with this brush. The bristles are too dense to penetrate the hair and for some reason it causes static that the old 800 model never did. I bought several as gifts as well as some for myself and my husband. Instead of using them on us, I am giving them away to friends for dog and cat brushes! They are horrible for human hair!

Not only did I buy one of these for my own long hair, but I did for my long haired Maine Coon Cat. This is the kind of brush that gets out knots with out hurting: a necessity for those with sensitive scalps and skin! My cat actually purrs when I groom her and doesn't try to escape!
