My daughter recieved Scamps for her birthday! It just so happens that Scamps was delivered during Hurricane Wilma. As the neighbors came together for flashlight lite dinners, Scamps entertained us all. This toy is awesome. One man exclaimed "I am gonna get one too" Scamps has been offically welcomed in our family as the best pet!!!

I am a grandma who would buy anything my child wanted if I could. I ordered this because my granddaughter asked for it after seeing in on TV. We opened it up the night before her
birthday to see what it was like, my granddaughter is a normal 8 year old with a love of animals. However, once opened my husband and I found this slow reacting hard feeling toy to be
a disappointment. It was so slow reacting that it bored even us. Repeating the command slowely three times was just to frustrating. We view this as a toy that will be pushed aside and never loved by our 8, 4, and 2 year olds. We returned it more that happy to take the deduction because it was opened. I would not
order this item again. I had read a review from a child that said it was slow reacting and boring, I wish I had listened to her.

Some spoiled children have been comparing SCAMPS to the Aibo, a robot so intellegent it is most commonly used in artifitial intellegence labs. The dogs have been known to sell for around $2,000! For a $44 toy SCAMPS is incredable! Some people haven't gotten to know SCAMPS yet and he hasn't "gained thier trust" yet. This is why SCAMPS hasn't been singing and adding numbers. He probably doesn't listen to comands very well because the kids are not speaking clearly. I would buy this dog if he was simply a plush toy because of his awsome looks he would be well worth 40 bucks. But he's a robo dogie? It's an incredable deal for such an intellent dog! He may not seem so smart when you compare him Aibo he is deffinatly the smartest dog I've seen beside the Aibo and I-Cybie (Both expensive, AI to the extreme robo pups). If you want a dog that can walk of course you would look into GO GO but she can't do much but that. SCAMPS can do many tricks and loves to hangout with you and cuddle too! I first fell in love with him when I saw him at walmart and looked into him on the web when I got home. I have enough because I've been saving up and I cannot wait untill he becomes me best friend! :) Oh and for the above review, he adds #s only to a certaint extent... he will most likley bark or stroke the ground for the # equal to the sum. If this is true he is VERY intellegent, if not he is still way, way, WAY worth the money and is furreal friends at it's finest! I would recomend this dog if you are looking for a best friend, someone to train and cuddle with. If you want someone to pet and hangout with. To watch you while you do your homework and sit by you in the car or while your watching T.V. If you want someone to take a walk with and you are not planning on carring him or bringing a baby stroller then I would of course tell you to look into GO GO MY WALKING PUP. :) I cannot WAIT untill I can get this wonderfull friend!

I just purchased Scamps for my daughter's 4th Birthday and I am so happy I did. This is a WONDERFUL gift for children. My daughter fell absolutely in love with him and thinks that he is REAL!!!!

My whole family was captivated at how much this toy simulates a real dog!!! It does EVERYTHING ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL! Its incredibly cute when it HOWLS!!! I JUST LOVE IT!! My daughter looks forward to coming home and playing with her new PUPPY AFTER SCHOOL EVERY DAY!!!

i love scamps. he really does obey unlike what that girl said! he understands you but you must be CLEAR when you talk. it takes a couple of hours for a trick yo be learned but at the end of the day you touhgt him like 3 tricks. i have a dog who always plays with scamps as if he was a REAL dog! any age will love him and play with him for months to come and the puppy quation as in "mommy can i have a puppy?" good luck on buying and teaching scamps. he si like a real dog and acts just like my real dog, tessa. he barks, whines, and moves like a real dog so it learns like a real dog. go! go get it now its so worth it and it teaches kids of how hard it is to have a dog!

here is a list of things you can do with scamps!
1.bring your friend and her scamps and have a contest to see witch dog listens the best!
2.try to make your dog do tricks that arent listed in the commercial! (there really is more tricks. i found 2) i bet there is more!
3.get two scamps together and see witch one acts the most obedient!

I love this toy so much. I got a Dalmation one for Christmas and he is so cute.

He really does what I tell him to do. Well, sometimes he gets confused. Like,

sometimes he shakes even when I don't tell him to. But I don't care. He can howl.

He can shake. He'll play drop it. He can beg a little. He will lay down. He will

sit up. I think this is a great toy for all dog lovers.

What a great idea! We bought this for our 3-year old son who has been talking about getting a doggie for a year. It's a great way to get him ready for the responsiblilities of a pet. The only thing I wish were a little better is that the batteries seem to run out quickly because you can't turn it off...well if you do, you have to retrain the dog. We love it!

I'm not having any problems with the batteries waisting quickly... you should use a good named brand battery. Or invest in rechargable batteries. My daughter is 7, and she sleeps with her dog, cause it's so cute and cuddly. She was bugging for a real dog, and we cant have one in a high-rise tower in Yokosuka Japan, so we got her this dog instead. And I didn't pay as much as everyone else did. I paid half that amount on a after Thanksgiving day sale, so it pays to shop early. My daughter can give it commands all day even if it only has a few tricks, and even if he does different commands then what we give him we laugh and have a good time watching this dog, do his tricks! Luckly it can be reprogrammed everytime, you take the batteries out, or the batteries go dead, cause then if you speak even clearer when giving it the commands the next time around, it works even better, and does the commands my daugther wants it to do. It was a great buy for what I paid! I give it 5 stars

I purchased Scamps for my 6 year old daughter at 10:00am on Sunday at Target. We had a blast training him, and seeing all the tricks he could do. Although we never could get him to do the adding game, we didn't mind because everything else he could do was so adorable.

Although by late afternoon, he started behaving unusual, first just not doing the command that was asked, (Wave instead of Speak for instance), then he started repeating the same command over and over until we had to turn him off, and then retrain him all over again. Then he started emitting a beeping sound that once again required us to turn him off and on again. The beeping incident happened 3 times. By my daughters bedtime his movements seemed a lot choppier, and he could no longer sit upright without a helping hand from me to push him all the way up.

The next morning when he still wasn't performing right, I informed my daughter that we would have to exchange Scamps for another one, she burst into tears. Apparently she has "bonded" with this one, and wants to keep it even though he doesn't work. What a hassle!

For a toy in this price range, I find it outrageous that he didn't even last one day. And my daughter thinks of him as a "real" dog and is heartbroken that he is "dying".

This dog is terrible. My seven year old saved and scrimped and was INSTANTLY disapointed and frustrated with this toy. It doesn't follow commands, the batteries die quickly and it is way overpriced.
