5.0 out of 5 stars Review from someone who's actually played the game
I've actually played this game--unlike some of the other reviewers here :-( and I think it's great. The scanner is cool and lets you play the game even when you're away from the computer. 2.0 out of 5 stars Disillusioned
I recently purchased Scan Command and found it to be quite confusing to both play and download. The instructions are limited at best and don't go into detail. I was frustrated at how difficult it is to "prepare" the scanner, just to get ready to play the game, which I never got to do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review from someone who's actually played the game, October 10, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Scan Command: Jurassic Park (CD-ROM)
I've actually played this game--unlike some of the other reviewers here :-( and I think it's great. The scanner is cool and lets you play the game even when you're away from the computer. You can scan almost any barcode and get special powers. I love going into grocery stores with my scanner and just scanning everything in sight! Even boring things like flour and toothpaste can have very strong powers attached to them. You have to experiment to find the really powerful stuff and that's part of the fun.
The graphics are really great and they're much better than graphics in most kids games. The story is interesting and the levels are fun without being impossible to get through. The battles are the best part. These dinosaurs really know how to fight. And even when you beat a bad guy, he doesn't die, he just slinks away. That part is so funny to watch!
There's supposed to be some super-powers hidden in different barcodes but I haven't found one yet. I am checking in with their website every few days for updates.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Kids Dinosaur Game Ever!, September 24, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Scan Command: Jurassic Park (CD-ROM)
As a parent, I'm extremely pleased with the level of attention that the makers of this dinosaur fighting game put into minimizing violent content. Much to my delighted surprise, I found that when a dinosaur is "defeated" in battle, they do not "die" but instead walk away with their heads hung in despair. In a world of ultra violent video games, it's nice to finally see someone showing the next generation that fighting only ends in sadness.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Game on the Planet, November 4, 2001

This is the perfect game for people that like going to grocery stores and wanting some entertainment. This game has best kind of gameplay, graphics, sound, and action ever!! Scan bar codes with special dinosaur techniches like a t-rex super roar or an ultra tail whip, etc... Finally a game with action but no blood. The dinos don't even die when they lose a battle!!! They slump away with a sad face! I think that scan command is the best game on the planet!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Scan Fan, October 25, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Scan Command: Jurassic Park (CD-ROM)
I just got this game and I can't stop playing. The scanner looks like a cell phone (kinda cool). I take it with me everywhere and scan stuff. Some barcodes have super powers so it's like a scavenger hunt to find the best ones. The dinosaur battles are pretty intense. I hope all my friends get the game because you can trade powers from one scanner to another.

5.0 out of 5 stars ScanCommand is 2x the fun -- scanning & battling are cool!, October 10, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Scan Command: Jurassic Park (CD-ROM)
WOW! This game is dino-cool! The graphics and battles scenes are fun. You get to be in control of your dino as he fights Spinos, a T-Rex and other types. It's nice to finally see a game with no blood -- just super jabs, tail wacks, and body slams. But the best part is the scanning. That thing is cool! I went with my mom to the market and started scanning barcodes to see what super-powers I'd get. Geez, it's amazing how many barcodes are out there. I downloaded the super-powers from my scanner to my computer and found some super special powers. I just wish I had more time to play this game... it's sooo amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, surprisingly good, December 9, 2001
By
This review is from: Scan Command: Jurassic Park (CD-ROM)
I didn't expect much when I bought this game, I thought it's just another game that tried to cash in from the Jurassic Park brand new. I have played many Jurassic Park games before for the other game systems, but none of them came close to this one in terms of gameplay and creativity. Scanning bar-code is a very neat idea, it's fun for me even though I'm not a kid anymore. My younger cousin has tried it too, and he's hooked with this game now, it's actually a very fun game to play. You should give this game a try even if you're not a dinosaur fan, the game concept is so creative that I'm surprised to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Secret DNA found in obscure places!, November 6, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Scan Command: Jurassic Park (CD-ROM)
this is a groovy game! scanning the different products is especially fun. I am trying to get more of my friends to get one so we can trade and fight our creations. I have found that scanning my black lab somehow provides the secret DNA needed for the most successful fighters! The game also provides an excellent opportunity for me to buy candy or any other bar code items! i feel this contributes directly to our economy and it makes me feel like superman to get involved with US commerce. This game has dual functions and should be rewarded for it's creativity, action involvement and interaction with other players!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good game but needs better manual, January 5, 2002
By
This review is from: Scan Command: Jurassic Park (CD-ROM)
This is a very good game, but make sure you read the manual on the CD in the Support/Manual folder. Don't forget to fill in the spaces for the Body and Rest functions. The scanner will time out and give you a command/DNA if you wait long enough, even if you do not scan anything.

5.0 out of 5 stars One major flaw hoax: READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!, June 28, 2003
By
Taylor Gibson "Angus" (Signal Mountain, TN USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Scan Command: Jurassic Park (CD-ROM)
I bought Jurassic Park Scan Command, and I am having a blast with it. Just a few minutes ago, I read a review for this game that said there was a major flaw in the game, because you couldn't reset the scanner and be able to scan barcodes that was scanned before. WRONG! There is a way. If the reviewer would have taken the time to read the instructions carefully, if not at all, they would know that there is a reset button on the back of the scanner. It is made for reseting the scanner after it has frozen, but if you press it (you have to use a pencil point to press it), it will reset the barcode history, and you can scan barcodes again and again. This is why you READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!
