1.0 out of 5 stars Read wikipedia instead, August 8, 2011
This review is from: Scan Me: Everybody's Guide to the Magical World of QR Codes (Paperback)
To start with the conclusion: I would not recommend this book to anyone. This book promises to "tell you ALL about them" but instead gives you nothing you couldn't find with just 10 minutes of browsing the web.

What I was expecting was an in-depth and all-round explanation on QR-codes, for example details about required sizes (not just "about 100 pixels wide is okay"), error correction percentages, overviews of (smart)phone capabilities, etc etc.

Instead this book offers only two things. First, it starts with a short introduction, but: you're better off reading the Wikipedia page on QR codes (from which several things almost seem to be copy-pasted). Second, the book gives an "A-Z list of QR codes" that basically goes like this: "You can print a QR code on a flyer. You can also print it on clothing. And hey! You can also print it on...".

4.0 out of 5 stars A comprehensive starter, August 11, 2011

This review is from: Scan Me: Everybody's Guide to the Magical World of QR Codes (Paperback)
On the eve of QR codes' ubiquity, Mick has provided an exhaustive index of possible applications, plus just a bit of history and background. Interestingly, there are two users for all this basic information: both the lay person who wants access to the layers of intelligence QRs provide and the vendors who supply the layers; both meet happily in these pages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Accelerate Your Knowledge on QR Codes, August 18, 2011
This review is from: Scan Me: Everybody's Guide to the Magical World of QR Codes (Paperback)
Need to quickly get up to speed on QR codes? This book is for you - it provides just about everything you need to know to start using QR codes - a solid primer. The A-Z real world use cases not only give you examples of how they are used, but will spark some ideas on how you can get the most out of QR codes. I have recommended this book nemerous times to colleagues within my company's marketing department - we are starting to use QR codes for brochures, events, and products and there are a lot of questions - this book answers them. You will not be disappointed.
