Village scandal,
By
This review is from: Scandal in the Village (Turnham Malpas 06) (Paperback)
In this novel of the Turham Malpas series, the village store owner's mother comes to the village to live near her son, his wife, and their four children. Of course, she is extremely difficult and has a hard time fitting in with the rest of the people. primarily because she has a tendency to be unfortunately meddlesome. There is added drama when the two married owners of the village pub began having problems and everyone chooses sides. Finally it is up to the village rector to bring the people back together again.
Quote: "It can't be very funny in a small community like Turham Malpas, where we all know each other's business before we know it ourselves." Marital discord is always fodder for a good village-wide bitter fest. A love triangle comes to Turham Malpas, turning the whole place upside down as the two bar owners have a series of fights over another man having his eyes on the wife, Georgie, who must then decide which direction she wants to take her life. Meanwhile, everyone in town is eager to give their to cents and have a hand in the matter. This novel gets back to the goodness of some of the earlier works after the series (for me) takes a momentary blip with The Village Show and Village Secrets. |
