From Booklist

The only one who could help Brianna Quinn is her guardian, Stefan Summerville, but his servants refuse to accept any of her letters. So when Brianna discovers Stefan will be attending one of London’s notorious courtesan balls, she sets out to meet him there. Concerned about the series of “accidents” that seems to be plaguing his twin brother, Edmond Summerville has been impersonating Stefan to keep him safe. When Brianna mistakes him for Stefan at the ball, Edmond sees the perfect opportunity to test his theory that their cousin is trying to kill Stefan by convincing Brianna to become Stefan’s new betrothed. The only thing that Edmond didn’t factor into his plan was that he might fall in love with his faux fiancée. International intrigue in a plot against the Russian czar and a tempestuous romance between two equally stubborn protagonists are the primary ingredients in Rogers’ latest vividly detailed, wildly passionate Regency romance. --John Charles

1.0 out of 5 stars A real disappointment, September 6, 2008
By
Brianna Quinn's stepfather intends to take her to his hunting lodge and turn her into his own personal sex slave. When she appeals to Edmond, the apparent hero of this story, for help, he basically informs her if she wants his help she'll have to have sex with him instead. When she refuses, he tells her to figure out her own problems. How wonderfully gallant and honorable. Brianna, preferring ruination over having to sleep with her stepfather, not "giving a bloody damn about London society" so she says, now sneaks into Edmond's house and locks herself in a bedroom. When he discovers she's there, he crawls into bed with her in his dressing gown and instructs her how to please him with her hand. Now I'm completely turned off. The next morning, he comes up with a lame solution to her predicament and she complains to him, now, about being the ruined she doesn't want to be, which made her a spoiled whiner. That's when I couldn't take anymore and I was well under 100 pages. Edmond cannot possibly redeem himself and I doubt he'll try and Brianna is too immature a heroine to like. I'm sure in the end they'll be together but I couldn't care less how.

1.0 out of 5 stars scandalous deception is the plot... but where is it?, September 20, 2008
Ok. This book has way too much sex in it. I read the back, bought the book, then began reading. I felt like every other page was just sex sex sex. I have nothing against a few really great sensual scenes, but when there's next to no plot, when there clearly was supposed to be one... it's not a great read. there was potential for a really fabulous plots, but they just fizzled and didn't exactly resolve, unless it happened to be pure coincidence. Edmond was a possessive freak in denial. Stefan, though good intentioned, asked Brianna (who isn't all that bright in my opinion) to marry him after a day together when they hadn't seen each other in years. I miss the old Jane Austen kind of classics where love came first and the men, though someone difficult, were actually respectable, and women were just... well, not like Brianna. No disrespect to the author, but this is one of the worst reads I've ever had.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!, March 5, 2010
I love this book. The story was interesting and I loved the fact that both chars were headstrong and not wanting to back down till the end. And the fact that it was such a miss match to start with, since he had always scared her as a kid and she was secreting crushing on the brother. The fact that as a woman she ended up falling for the one guy she would never had thought of. And the way the brothers were brought in to decide they both wanted the same girl but for different reasons, one thought it was his duty to keep her safe and the other wanted her cause he wasn't ready to let her go and didnt' know why till he finally realized he loved her. Another great book by rosemary.
