One of the best free downloads on amazon,

This is one of the best free downloads on the amazon site. As a result of this download, I have absolutely fallen in total love with El Perro Del Mar. I downloaded this into my mp3 player before I had a complete listen to each track. A few days or weeks later, I was driving in my car and on popped "God Knows (You've Got to Give to Get)." Stopped me cold. Her incredible voice, girly-girl without being cloying, is infused with that utter sense of melancholy endemic to Swedish arts. I've already bought one El Perro Del Mar CD after this free download and I intend to buy more.
The other artists are definitely worth the download, too. But download this for El Perro Del Mar.

Very appropriately titled album, as it is "gold" indeed. This is not based on the grounds that it was free, as I would pay for every track. Enjoy! What do you have to lose, some bandwidth for a few minutes?

I completely agree with a previous post, the Johnossi track is worth the whole download. But the Wildbirds and Peacedrums track is pretty golden too. Or maybe I've just got a heavy thing for 2-piece bands!

The Johnossi track is well worth the free download, but the rest got deleted after a first listen. Perhaps just not my taste.

Like other reviewers, I like the songs by El Perro Del Mar most--sounds Duffy-ish. Also like "Execution Song" by Johnossi and "I Was A King" by Norman Bleik. But the other tracks are worth having. Overall, it's an excellent collection.

There are five great tracks on this album, each of which is a credit to its artist. I would highly recommend downloading the compilation for each of them, especially given the can't-lose price point. However, it should be noted that the Johnossi track, "Execution Song," is loaded with extremely foul language. There should definitely be an "Explicit" label on that track, which I finally just turned off halfway through my first listen and deleted from my hard drive. Free is good, but some things aren't even worth that much.
Four stars'''' for an otherwise great compilation, but caveat emptor!

Johnossi is an awesome AWESOME two man band. They have two albums out and both are the bomb-diggity. Just get that track and then the two albums will certainly follow. Snork!

Did the Price of Gold drop?,

There's some things that glitter but they sure are not gold..this might be one of those things. A play on words perhaps or majestic dreams of gold records, without some work this album isn't ready for a music standard of "gold".
There might be some waivering talent in there but the first track left me running for the volume control so as not to disturb others. One track showed some work and quite alot of production but the off-note vocals after a few lines gave me the retreat to another album...fast. I have yet to figure out genre or even if was known before they took this step to ??Gold?? In a few years, I would like to see where or what becomes of the "gold album". For some reason, I keep thinking about all those AOL disks and where they finally headed. |
