Update 5/2014: I use this pan almost every day. I just bought another one so I can use both of them at the same time. After pre-heating on medium, I use a little bit of olive oil for the nutrition and to avoid sticking. I wash with a little soap and a sponge once it is cool. When we bring home french fries or deep fried vegetables or when heating frozen fish sticks, I put them into the pan without oil, cook for 5 minutes, turn them over for another 4 minutes and the crispiness is back as if they were just fried.

I was tired of non-stick coatings breaking down over time, flaking into the food, and eventually having to throw away a still-good stainless steel frypan. I investigated Scanpan at a gourmet food cooking utensils store. They demonstrated that you cannot cut or scar the surface with anything as it is titanium. But it is necessary to either use a little oil/oleo/butter when cooking or put a few drops in and wipe it over the surface with a paper towel.

I cook a lot with a wok and am used to "seasoning" after cooking with a little oil so that has worked for me. Food never sticks. I've used my pan for 8 years and it is blackened. But it is my favorite for small portions. I don't see how I will ever wear it out. And the handle is thick and comfortable. I like the curved sides for sliding out food or slipping a high temp spatula under the food.

Scanpan brand works great- for a couple of weeks. The first one we owned, we thought it was our own fault for turning the burner up too high. So we bought a second Scanpan. With the second pan we bought, we were EXTREMELY careful - We didn't let it get anywhere near too hot, and we followed the care instructions TO THE LETTER. No matter how careful, sooner or later, this pan just sticks, worse than any cheap pan. By contrast, my parents have Kitchenaid nonstick pans for much cheaper, that are still working like a dream after several years of use. Those higher ratings were probably posted by people who haven't owned this pan long enough to see its true colors. It is a waste of money.

Absolutely the best pan ever. I own two 8" and one 10" Scanpans. So do my son and his wife. The coating doesn't flake off and it heats up evenly. Its great that the exterior of the pan is non-stick coated too. I also like the lack of dirt-catching rivets on the inside of the pan surface. Easy clean up. Dishwasher not recommended and mine looks like new after much use. Well worth the price. I use them constantly.

Pan seems a little lightweight in terms of holding up over time. It is anti-stick though. This feels like a skillet you'd cook with a few months and it'd be done. The handle is incredibly short as well making it a trick not to get yourself burned on a larger cooktop. Went back to my 8-in Unison Calphalon instead and use this one only if the other is in the wash! Don't bother.

THERE IS NO WARRANTY

There is claimed to be a lifetime warranty on Scanpan products. That warranty is nothing but empty words. I have several Scanpan skillets, and like others here, have had the skillets completely lose their non stick properties. If you do some digging, the manufacturer suggest heating some water with baking soda in the skillet, or to use a product called Barkeepers Friend on it, to restore the non stick properties. Well... that may work once... twice if you're lucky... then your expensive non stick skillet is useless.

The manufacturer does not honor its warranty. The store where you bought it, will be of no help. There is no procedure in place for customers to file a warranty claim. If you don't believe that, just go try to find a way to file a warranty claim on the manufacturers website. It simply can't be done.

Hey... why not claim a lifetime warranty if you can get away with never having to honor any claims. These skillets will work great for a year or two... then you'll be sorry you spent so much money on them. Just buy a cheaper skillet and replace it when it wear out... you'll have to do the same with Scanpan anyway

Scanpans are the very best nonstick pans in existence, bar none. Nothing compares to it. I will not buy any other ever again. They are that far superior.

I have several other Scan Pan skillets and like them a lot. This small skillet is great for eggs and doesn't require a lot of oil or butter to fry great eggs.

Worth every penny of its high price....eggs fry smoothly and consistently with no splatter...easy to get semi-soft yolks with firm but fluffy whites.

Finally found a non stick pan with good weight and balance. This is worth the price and I am looking forward to procuring more Scanpan.

It's like something out of an infomercial - I can fry an egg in here without oil and wipe the pan clean with a paper towel. I like the no-rivet handle because my pans with riveted handles always seem to get food stuck on the rivets inside the edge of the pan. The description says metal utensils are OK, but I'm sticking with plastic. My wife if pretty tough on my cookware and there are a couple of very small scratches that I'd guess were from her cutting something in the pan with one of my my Wusthof knives or something like that. Gentle use of metal is probably OK, but why not just use plastic or silicone?

The pan heats very evenly, especially for its light weight. There is an aluminum disk on the bottom of the pan for heat distribution. Oven safe to 500 degrees is a plus too. I plan to buy another in a larger diameter.
