5.0 out of 5 stars The best single pan for the family on the go
If you could own only one of the ScanPan products, this is the one to have! We use this pan to cook soups and stews, stir-fry meats and vegetables and even to bake in. It's large enough to cook a meal for a family yet still light enough to handle easily. Its high sides allow you to stir-fry or deep-fry without the oil spitting all over the range-top. The ScanPan...

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't use too much heat with it!
We are on our second pot and the same problem has occured -- the nonstick has bubbled out all round, close to the bottom. When we took the first one back to the shop because a small piece of the nonstick had completely peeled off, the manager told us that we must have used a metal implement and scratched it (not true). They replaced the first one, but refuse to take the...

The ScanPan non-stick coating is a wonderful material. Almost everything just rinses off it. More tenacious materials, like burned-on gravy from beef stew, can usually be removed simply by soaking overnight, with a quick handwash in the morning. If all else fails the factory-supplied steel wool will polish it right up! We cook in one of these pans almost every day and love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A basic for everyday use, February 18, 2004
By A Customer
I LOVE this pot! It's just the right size for so many tasks, and with 2 stay-cool handles it's easy on the wrists, secure to move to sink or elsewhere, and takes less room on the stove than a typical large saucepan with a long handle.

For boiling smaller quantities of pasta, I find this pot ideal: it pours easily and comfortably into a colander, and the nonstick surface cleans up without a hitch (i.e., no left-behind sticky gluten that's hard to get off).

A BIG added bonus: as well as fitting the Scanpan 8" frypan, the lid also fits perfectly on the 8" omelet pan that tops the LeCreuset 2-qt multifunction pan.

In addition to this pot, other Scanpan pieces are "naturals" because of their ability to tolerate high heat and metal utensils: the wok, the grill pan, and the rectangular roaster.

When we took the first one back to the shop because a small piece of the nonstick had completely peeled off, the manager told us that we must have used a metal implement and scratched it (not true). They replaced the first one, but refuse to take the second back saying we must have used too much heat. Apparently, it is important to gently introduce the pot to heat everytime you use it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent pan, great customer service!, December 3, 2009
This review is from: Scanpan Classic 6.5 Quart Covered Dutch Oven (Kitchen)
This was a gift from my Dad shortly after I was married. It's 8 years old now and still my favorite and most used pan. I was cooking with it today when the lid accidentally slid off of the counter. The pyrex didn't break, but the knob did. I called Scanpan and they offered to ship me another free of charge. Wonderful service. LOVE my Scanpan!

I love this pan. It is an excellent size and can be used on the stovetop as well as in the oven. It's quite sturdy without being too heavy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, June 13, 2008

I'm a guy, so the idea of paying more than $100 for a pot was - to me - pretty ridiculous. But then I got this thing. WOW. The handles are secure, far away from the pot itself (so they don't get hotter than they have to) and have an easy grip coating on them. The pyrex top makes it easy to see what's actually going on in the pot so you don't have to pull the cover off and get a blast of steam in your face. And the non-stick coating!!!! Stuff just slides out of there. Plus, the bottom surface is set up to heat everything evenly.

I am seriously impressed.

I've had Scanpans for more than 12 years. This pot was an addition to my set and is quickly becoming my favorite pan for cooking soups, pastas, etc. now that there are just two of us at home. Clean up is very easy. Love my Scanpans!
