I love these pans!, June 22, 2004
This review is from: Scanpan Classic Ceramic Titanium 11-Piece Chef's Cookware Set (Kitchen)
I have had my set of SCANPANs for 5 years. They are the most awesome pans you will ever buy. I bought mine when I was in college. My wife said I could do anything I wanted with my bonus from work so what did I do? I bought a set of SCANPANs. And I really wanted a 17" monitor. But the pans won in the end.The pans are solid. Thankfully my wife hasn't hit me over the head with one yet. You feel the difference when you take them out of the box. Then you cook with them and notice how evenly they heat up. No hot spots here. Just solid cooking performance all the way around. Cleaning the pans is easy. Just grab your favorite steel wool pad or scouring pad and scrub away. The surface is not the best nonstick on the original set I bought but for the most part the food comes off rather easily. Keep reading... The glass lids are heavy duty Pyrex glass. It sure is nice to be able to see the food as you are cooking it. Do be careful as the glass lids will chip or break. I have several that have bounced off of the ceramic tile and chipped the edges. They still work. I haven't had one break yet and I am rough when I do the dishes. I broke two sets of glasses washing dishes in my first two years of marriage. We now use Mason canning jars for drinking. No warranty on the lids though. The lifetime warranty is worth it. The 11-Inch Covered Saute got some pot marks in the bottom of the pan. These things happen when you use the pan almost everyday and abuse the heck out of it. so I sent it in to SCANPAN for replacement. In 3 weeks I had a brand new pan; one of the new ones with the New Tek coating. It is an awesome pan. The new stuff is truly non-stick, much better than before. I highly recommend these pans. What other male would spend this much on a set of pans while still in college. With the lifetime warranty I will have these pans buried with me. Who says you can't take it with you.

Cooking Investment, January 8, 2004
This review is from: Scanpan Classic Ceramic Titanium 11-Piece Chef's Cookware Set (Kitchen)
SCANPANs Lifetime Warranty makes buying SCANPAN products a safe investment.
SCANPAN Titanium is made in Denmark. It is one of the best lines of nonstick cookware on the market. The pans have a Ceramic Titanium non-stick cooking surface and a Pressure-cast aluminum body. All other nonstick pans have one or more layers of traditional coatings which seem to quickly peel, scrape off or blister.
These pans have heavy-gauge, perfectly flat bases and can be used on electric, gas, ceramic and halogen cook tops. All the cookware, glass lids, and the ergonomically designed very comfortable handles are ovenproof to 500º F/260º C. This is a feature unmatched in the industry.
Features:
Base is guaranteed to remain level - The best I've seen in my short life. The base is thicker than most pans and the pans feel very sturdy. No spinning on glass surfaces like other pans I've used.
NewTek Finish won't peel, blister or crack (They say it is safe for use with metal utensils)
Even Heat Distribution - Guaranteed to not have any hot spots.
Easy to Clean Surface
Dishwasher Safe
Heat Resistant Glass Lids - You can put them in the oven
Also look for the griddle, square grill pan, crepe pan, roasting pan, stove top grill, paella pan, wok and covered chef pan/Wok.
If you are tired of buying cheaper pans (that you eventually throw away), give this line a try. I have found that this is a very worthwhile investment (They stand by their warranty and replace items promptly) and my cooking is much improved. I love the results I have been able to achieve with this set of pots and pans.
When I cook with SCANPAN Items I feel like a chef and my recipes take on a gourmet quality. Food browns more evenly and sauces are super creamy because of the even heat distribution. You will also love this set for cooking stews, making quick breakfasts (since nothing sticks you can use the same pan for many items, bacon, eggs and hash browns), gravies, frying steaks, one-dish meals and anything you can think of cooking. You can even start items on the stovetop and finish them in the oven.
Highly Recommended. I've been using these pans for years and have yet to find anything like this set. I also love the Covered Low Sauce Pot.

It did not last very long, February 15, 2008
This review is from: Scanpan Classic Ceramic Titanium 11-Piece Chef's Cookware Set (Kitchen)
We got a large sauce pan, 1 small and 1 medium size fry pans.
I was very excited the first time we got our Scanpans. I saw and read about the new technology surrounding this product that supposedly to be non-stick for many years. Now we only have the big sauce pan left. We have to throw away the 2 fry pans.
Well, to give it some credit, they lasted a couple of years before it started to peel off (actually not peeling off like a teflon. It starts to have some tiny holes on the surface coating which grows in size as you use it. Then finally when we see the metal base, we got worried that pieces of those non-stick surface gets to our food that we decided it's time to get rid of it). The non-stick properties starts to wear off before it lasted a year.
Pros:
-heavy and thick to distribute heat evenly
-Handles and glass covers are oven resistant so you can actually use it to cook in the oven
-Well made, great construction. Durable.
-(If you order a cover) We love the glass cover. It is see through to see your food without lifting it. Heavy that it does not easily rocks on top of the pan. We actually use it with our other pans.
Cons:
-Not as non-stick as teflon. And non-stick properties continue to deteriorates as you use it. Approximately a year.
-For the price, it should last much longer.
-Even if it is heavy and thick, the material is not for induction cooking.
